Free Agency was introduced to the AFL competition in 2012 and the eligibility criteria was updated in 2019 to include the following scenarios…

AND has not served 8 years of service for the same club

Then he is NOT a Free Agent.

He also does not appear on the AFL's FA list

I pointed out that fans have, at times, criticized Cripps, Walsh, Weitering, Charlie, McKay, and even Doch online, but never Jack—not once. We know he always gives 100% and is the ultimate clubman.

I said that while he’s a professional and doesn’t owe loyalty to a club he was born into, he should consider how he’ll feel in 20 or 30 years if he leaves now for the wrong reasons, breaking the bond with the fans who make the Club what it is. He listened, thanked me for sharing, but didn’t hint at his decision.
