Nah duursma will bail home to vic at first opportunity , vic clubs will throw stupid money at him . He is also the clear number 1 pick .

His brother bailed port to go home and he has 2 other siblings playing footy in Victoria

See who wants him the most out of Richmond and essendon and get a good deal .

I would prefer grabbing the 2 SA boys in sharp and cumming .

Also shubert if possible .

Shubert looks like a very good candidate for forward ruck as Archer is a terrible forward and should be moved back like his brother next season
Do you guys not get tired of just throwing the homesick label on random kids? The majority of you did it with Murphy Reid last year despite him never saying anything to suggest he won’t go interstate.

Unless a player actually says or at least implies they aren’t happy to move, it’s completely unfair to say things like this.

Also, Xavier didn’t bail on Port, he loved Port, they wanted to move him on because they wanted BZT from Essendon, Xavier then agreed.

Willem toured our facilities in the off season and I know for a fact that he likes Perth.

The Murphy Reid comments came from someone who's from the area/familiar with the family.

Good on Freo for making it work and hopefully more Metro kids will look favourably on Perth in future. The ones who move there seem to love it mostly.

Murphy Reid would have been worth taking a risk on if we were a good club that could develop him well and we could trust that we could put him an environment where he'd be able to perform and enjoy himself and want to stay.

James Hird really is a swarmy fu(king prick.

How "The Prince of Peptides" has got a jig in the media after the cluster fu(k that he presided over astounds me.
Talk about brining the game into disrepute, hard to find a more culpable individual than him.

Sleazy, integrity deprived, piece of ... yes you know what comes next.

How he can ever sit and make comment about honest communication in football with a straight face, after the complicit deceit that he managed, just look at the ease in which he lied in the past and yet pretends to to a moral compass in the AFL.

There are not many in the world I would say this about, be I will make an exception for him:

If I walked by him and he was on fire, I wouldn't even bother pissing on him.

Ohhh ... in case you are wondering, forgiveness has never been a strong suit of mine.

We were criticised as supporters for not tolerating his pack of dopers on our home turf.

I think Duursma is shaping as that "pick him anyway" style clear pick 1 at the moment. If he goes we get multiple first rounders and start with 3 picks and not 1.

As much as people dislike the idea of CDT I think he has value in terms of unlocking Archer Reids move to defense . I think we need to find a next defender from within as nothing is around for us to grab so that could work as a plan

Thrilled for pick 2

However, ditching the club he captains for $$ is poor, and being a petty bitch is satisfying 💅.

Wish him no flags or success at Brisbane, and I hope he's still playing when we rise again to win our next flag.

Even better - hope he requests a trade back to us he watches us overtake Brisbane, & we tell him soz no thx.
Brisbane have more young talent on their list than we do .

Newton got a 1 year extension.
Straight from Newton himself in an interview

"Deserve" has nothing to do with it... it's about market rates. He's worth whatever Brisbane (or others) are willing to pay.

What is totally ****ed up is to see the reigning premiers pick up multiple 1-round talents due to academies and FS, then go and pick the eyes out of the last ranked team via free agency.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.
And all those highly rated first rounders they are getting access to are father son and academy players who are loyal to the club and will take unders in contract negotiations allowing them to splurge on free agents .

Who will be the better player over there career will ashcroft or Harley reid ?

All I know is we will have to pay Harley the same a both ashcrofts combined

Yeah, those 3x father/sons looked great just night. And they’ll have Annable coming in this year’s draft as well.

West Coast and Fremantle really should press the AFL to develop Western Academies of their own (with a broader reach than the NGAs).

Need to address the deterioration in the number of quality prospects coming through from WA in the draft and get more kids playing footy.

So like we have done with Harley?

Your statement makes little sense considering we drafted Reid, he has played two seasons in pretty depressing circumstances and looks set to extend his stay.

Despite the talk, there has been nothing from Harley himself or his camp to suggest he was a flight risk.

Everything he has ever said has been the complete opposite.

a hit out stat in isolation isn't that important (or indicative) imo. I wouldn't say that means the entire ruck position isn't that important.

I've mentioned this stat a fair bit on this board, but we are -12.2 in first possession from a hit out. 18th by a mile. 17th is -4. In terms of turning first possession in to a clearance. We turn fist possession in to clearance at 73.3% which is around 14th. View attachment 2406115

Our first possession stats are due to our absolutely dire ruck stocks, and the primary reason why we lose clearances so comprehensively every week.

Now if you were to say that clearances don't matter, that would be a hard sell to me and most on this board, I'd imagine.

The inability to defend against a period of opposition ruck dominance is a bigger issue than the ruck stocks themselves. Our midfield doesn't win enough easy ball from ruck work, that's 100% true but the majority of ruck contests result in dirty ball, and we're getting beaten there in a big way.

Against Sydney, like a lot of our worst games of the year, you see Sydney get positive and wide of the stoppage and turn what is dirty ball into dangerous attacking plays.

Switching out Flynn for a slightly more competent ruck isn't going to transform team performance.

Apart from the night life, Perth is a nicer place to live than Melbourne hands down. I've lived in Melbourne, it's blody freezing cold with grey skies even in summer. Their beaches are crap compared to ours as well. People banging on about go home factor need to realise how much Perth has to offer.

How many of our recent Vic/interstate draftees have gone home rather than re-signing recently? I can't think of a single one.

We've talked about Murphy Reid ad nauseum but we could have a potential rising star on our list, as opposed to a player that the jury is still well and truly out on, because we were too chicken s**t to back ourselves in.

Perth rules. Melbourne drools.

As Will Schofield says Perth is the land of milk and honey to an 18yo kid from Victoria.

Wish Murphy Reid all the best, but I actually think Bo Allen is more the type of player we need anyhow. Athletic with a spring in his step and wants to go forward. He’s like the antithesis of Simpsons gameplan
It'd be great if he comes alive. Always happy to give him some time and hope for a better year next year

Plenty of bed wetters on here, perhaps its self reflection?
