What does everyone think Hugo’s ceiling is? Seems to have a lot of potential but he just never puts it all together

Will be 24 next year and will be his 7th year on the list. 60 odd games of experience.

If he's not solidified into the 22 next year, he's goneski. Can't be a fringe player any longer
at his best hes a solid wingman, 2024 he was a shining light.

Kmacs defensive wing role? He’s probably our best speed/endurance athlete.
Not sure what Yze has in mind for Trainor, but the set up could look something like
HRS defensive wing
Trainor/ Grlj/Hotton/ Campbell/ Brown attacking wing ala Josh Daicos

Hugo can't defend though. Very timid overhead, which limits his ability to support the backs in that role.

Problem is he doesn’t have a defensive bone in his body

Granted, doesn’t have Kmacs hardness, dropping back into the hole. But I wouldn’t be wasting/developing Trainor or one of our more skilled players in that role.
Heard this year that the defensive wingman averages around 1 possession for every km covered. It’s a thankless role.

Trainor's future is down back. Yze said he's only been playing on the wing to find a spot for him in the side with the backline so stacked.

Ralphsmith played his role well in the games he played. He was our 11th highest rated player in 2025 based on average player rating, and that isn't that easy to achieve playing wing.
He's knows his limitations now and is efficient with disposal, he uses his pace well and can tackle.
