I'd be shocked if the changes were anything other than:

In: Michalanney, Rachele (if fit, otherwise Pedlar)
Out: Bond, Draper
Yeh pretty much. Although I think they my stick with Bond.

Max to come in and straight to Josh Daicos.

Draper to have a week off and be back for the SANFL 2nd semi.

I am told, from a source who has no reason to lie, that Rankine was targeted by 3 Pies players. Didn't say who. But it was threats to knock him out. It was consistent and persistent all game and Rankine made the slur late in the game after a couple hours of sniping at him.

Adelaide needs to produce the most hostile crowd environment you could possibly imagine.

Keep it legal. But anyone, and I mean ANYONE, associated with Collingwood should be made to feel very uncomfortable, to say the least.

They need to pay for this bullshit they did to Rankine.

And **** off to anyone saying he isn’t a victim. He is.

Sledging works best when it's personal anyway. Instead of calling someone a rude name, find out something that annoys or has hurt the person in the past and keep going in on that note. Works especially well if the other person is from a bad family or has a skeleton in the closet.

There were loud boos for Houston last time. That was probably only half to 1/3 of the Crowd booing. Get that number up and consistently and it will have an effect. Every single time certain players get the ball or are about to kick.

Have there been many games Pedlar hasn’t finished? Always seem to have an injury announced after the game, at training or in the sanfl

Yeah.

Had a run of 3 games and then got injured and subbed out of his 4th game in a row.

He then came back into the side for Rd 19,20 and was dropped for round 21 before getting a recall for rd 22 and getting inujured again.

Just hasn't managed to get any continuity in his game apart from 2023. Contracted through 2026 - I wouldn't be giving him another contract unless he can play 15+ AFL games in 2026.

Talk of playing Max forward, to me, is nonsense. Our best shutdown defender must play on Cwd's best forward and the one who could kick a bag - Elliott.
This is how you think outside the box.
We know Max is an elite defender but Bond has shown he is a tight checking capable defender as well.
Rankine is unavailable and so is Rachelle, so what player can we play on the half forward flank that may be a difficult match up.
Max has height, pace, is a good mark and reads the flight of the ball well, he also has a defenders mindset of chasing hard.
I really think if we get to play Geelong he is the perfect match up in the forward line for Tom Stewart to make him accountable.

Against Collingwood in all likelihood Max will play defense but what if we need to change things up, a plan B or plan C.
Dawson will most probably be used first but throwing Max forward should at least be a consideration, he is such a versatile player that a short burst up forward might be an option.

It's not a nonsense to have a open mindset.

Whilst an open mindset is good, don't be so open-minded that your brains fall out.

Playing our best shutdown defender as a forward in a big match up is complete nonsense, especially as a "plan B or C". Especially as your 6th-7th forward slots are the least important positions on the ground, and that it requires carrying another shutdown defender with a limited offensive profile "just in case".

If Max was a half back, or playing on the third-fourth most dangerous small forward, you could make it work (seeing it's easier to carry an additional outside midfielder, and how interchangeable wing/half back is). Not with someone who's already up against someone who needs to be shutdown.

You’ve already forgotten the job he did on Vlaustin (who will quite likely be All Australian playing as a defensive forward?

I remember you lecturing me years ago about small forwards primary job being a defensive presence and not a scoring option. That my thoughts were 'old school'.
I maintained that a half forward was there to score goals first and foremost.
Thankfully we've moved away from McHenry and Murphy being defensive specialists to Richelle and Rankine whose primary jobs are to score goals. We look so much better for that change.
When I went to revisit that post it was deleted, so much for conviction.

"Whist an open mindset is good , don't be so open minded that your brains fall out."
I learnt years ago not to pay much stock to your opinion but I never insulted you for a differing view.

We'll see how these finals play out and if you delete another post.
Either way this is a forum of footy discussion, again our opinions differ, nothing more.
