He was one of the better performers against top line sides amongst key position forwards.

However he feasted on the nORTH, wce, richmonds. Neither Darcy/Naughton have had AA years and when it counted sunday both were terrible.

Libba is the one that should've been squeezed if you need a bulldog but Georgiades has less goals/goal assists/score involvements/ contested marks then Naughton yet the failed fireman mangaed to get him in
Georgiades deserved to be in the 40.

Some strange decisions.. ....as always.

Naughton v Georgiades (both played 23 games):

Player Rating: 10.22 v 7.04
Coaches votes: 40 v 27
Disposals: 11.8 x 12.1
DE%: 63.1% v 59.4
CP: 5.7 v 4.6
Marks: 5.4 v 5.5
CM: 1.5 v 1.5
Tackles: 2.0 v 1.2
Goals: 60 v 58
Goal Assists: 19 v 7
SI's: 6.9 v 6.3
Pressure Acts: 9.8 v 6.7

So 79 x direct goal contributions v 65. More coaches votes, more tackles, more SI's.

I'd love to hear the justification for this one.
Cornes. That’s all you need to know

One thing I will say re: Naughton was that he really struggled in the first half of the year, think people are forgetting that given how dominant the back half of his year has been.

But yes, him > Darcy given that Darcy missed a heap of footy through injury. Agree that it seems a very Cornes decision to think otherwise.

I think everyone is assuming Worrell is a lock, and he's had a great year. And I assume Georgiadies over Naughton is because Naughton was in a better forward line with more help?

Vlastuin v Worrell.

Player Rating: 10.37 v 8.05
Coaches Votes: 29 v 22
Disposals: 19.1 v 20.3
DE%: 80.5 v 77.0
Metres: 375 v 397
CP: 6.0 v 6.3
Marks: 6.1 v 5.6
CM: 1.0 v 0.5
Tackles: 2.1 v 1.3
Intercepts: 7.5 v 7.9
Intercept Marks: 2.6 v 1.9
Pressure Acts: 9.5 v 6.5

Vlastiun will likely miss out again, but as shown here, he compares very favourably to the year Worrell has had.

Grundy didn’t miss 3 games due to suspension. Also Grundy had a dominant half to a season and an underrated first half. Xerri’s dominant patch was like six weeks and I feel like he tailed off quite significantly after that.

Might be a bit stiff to be behind Jackson though.

Tailed off when?

However he feasted on the nORTH, wce, richmonds. Neither Darcy/Naughton have had AA years and when it counted sunday both were terrible.
Fair few people in the rolling All Australian thread had Naughton in the squad. Opinions are like assholes, I suppose.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Harris Andrews anyway, but if it's a 50/50 between those two I'd go Vlaustin think we have to account for the fact that Richmond were meant to not win a game and he's a good reason they didn't

I’d probably try to include both

Borderline at absolute best. His first half a year your own supporters wanted him dropped nearly. You already got Libba (of all years they pick him, been way better in previous years), Darcy (ineffective off at least 10 games with 6 due to injury). Dale is a certain squad at least selection, Bont makes the side and so should Ed Richards. Latter two certainties, Dale a 50/50 with Ash, Zorko and co who knows which HBF they go with

We’re talking specifically about his hatred of Naughton, and selecting Georgiades ahead of him.

Also might want to recount lol

Only Dale, Bont and Richards have really had AA years. I would have picked West in the 40 personally

During Xerri’s “6 week dominant patch” he was the highest rated player on the ground 9 times.

21 of the 44 squad members play significant midfield minutes. I reckon one day it will get close to 30.

Dunkley a bit of a surprise (in a good way), he's usually more unheralded. I'm not sure Libba and Brayshaw were must haves in the end.

Only 2 stay at home small/general forwards by comparison: Elliot and Long.

7 or 8 defenders who can actually defend might be an upgrade on recent seasons. In a weak year for KPDs I don't think you really needed 5 to make the squad of 44 though.

A quarter of the squad positions go to the teams finishing 7th and 9th. The coaches in charge of those teams are underdelivering.

Goals vs top 8

Naughton 22 Jeremy Cameron 19

Goals vs Bottom 4
Naughton 20 Cameron 34

Should we remove Jezza now only beating up on shit teams?

One is locked in to finals and the other is almost certainly going to miss them. You can argue it, but it would be a terrible argument.

Yes we have underachieved this year if we don't make a prelim this season at a minimum.

But that argument has nothing to do with Dogs being awful and why this award is farce if Dogs get numerous players in the side this year.

We've won more home and away games as last season with a harder draw.

That's progress in the right direction.

Doggies failing to make the finals is pretty horrendous.

If we can play two finals I'd be satisfied. Exiting first week will be disappointing but it's tough competition.

Wow, that was easier than i expected lol 🎣
