I don't know anything about him other than vaguely recognising the name, and I know not to expect much from a delisted player but...his stats and output over the years look absolutely horrid.
Don't know him well either, but I don't think his stats are that bad tbh (for a free hit player)?

This year: 0.8 goals per game, 8.7 disposals, 3 tackles, 3.7 score involvements, 72% game time.

Compare that to Sharp for example (added 22% to his numbers given he averaged 22% less game time)

Sharp: 0.49 goals, 7.8 disposals, 1.6 tackles, 3 score involvements.

That's a free improvement on an existing player for mine.

All I really know is Port supporters on BigFooty really detest McEntee and are probably ecstatic he’s gone.

I was more surprised to see Ryan Burton and Jeremy Finlayson delisted.

Burton turns 29 before the start of next year and played mostly as an attacking half back. Not quite the sort of player that releases Rivers into the midfield, and probably similarish to Howes for size. I didn’t get the impression he’s that good as an actual defender.

Finlayson will turn 30 prior to the start of next year and is a bit of a flakey forward/ruck. Would be better than Fullarton I guess. He has had lots of well publicised family and personal health issues so potentially wants to stay put in SA. But as a forward who can relief ruck for a couple of years you could do worse.

Fair, don't know much about him - But from afar, seems an upgrade on Sharp, Henderson, Brown, Laurie maybe even Spargo, and would come for free in a year where we need change and don't have a lot of currency.

Just given our situation and our need for peak age players we're going to need to be creative.

Yeah, I guess it's technically a potentially free, very minor improvement. Real bottom of the barrel stuff though.

I mean, if we somehow end up with a free list spot that's absolutely impossible to fill then sure, go nuts.

Have to remember we're stuck with the likes of Sharp for another two years anyway though, so likely outcome is we end up with two spud list cloggers instead of one.

Yeah absolutely agree won't be a needle mover, it's the top of the list where that stuff happens, but still good to try and improve the depth. IMO, we'll have a minimum of 4 list spots to fill after we take into account the likely delistings/trades, and then our incoming draft picks, Derksen etc. Given we know they're after peak age types, would make sense we're looking at other delistings, VFL players and the like.

McEntee was literally the most hated player on Port's list haha, he's dreadful. All for looking around at small forwards, but not him.

Any thoughts as to who? Know anything about that Massimo Raso kid?
Don't know a whole heap about him, but I'd definitely be giving a state league standout a go before McEntee tbh.

Small forwards are a pretty valuable commodity at the moment, so hard to know exactly what's realistic at the trade table.

Sorry, wasn't meaning to shut you down without a viable solution, McEntee is just terrible haha

Nah not at all, all I knew about him was that he was a delisted young small forward with value-enticing stats, good to know he's widely hated! haha Just trying to throw options out there for small forwards.

Have we got any real idea of who the club is pursuing over the off-season? All the players known to be on the move all seem to be linked to anyone but us and I haven't really heard anything of substance about our trade plans.

I know we were linked to Worpel earlier in the year but that seems to have fallen flat?

There's been plenty of talk about our players being on the move, but it's all very speculative. Where last year we were actually hearing specific reports about certain players wanting out.

Like even the articles about May today were just pundits saying he'd be a good fit for the Dogs and he's probably someone we'd like to get rid of.

Actually linked to us in enough of a way that there's something there: Jackson, Brown (re-signed), Derksen, Worpel.

Linked in a way where maybe it could become something but it's not a 'thing' yet: Windhager.

Loose rumours from the interwebs: Duursma, Rosas, Flanders.

Depressingly, only Derksen could be classed as one of those ones that is strong. Pretty sad given how much we leak.

Duursma and Flanders would be the only ones I would pursue. Other than that just get draft picks for this year and/or next year.

We aren't a club who should be topping up for the now. Should only be targeting deficiencies like speed and ball users with the players being under 25.

Sounds like it's probably going to be another year of picking up nobodies off the scrap-heap.

I think the club has already made it pretty clear they're not super interested in the draft this year and want to address the weak spot of around 24-28 year olds. Both Green and Goody (RIP) talked about it as a need for our list during the year specifically. Doesn't mean we'll get anyone good, but I don't reckon we'll be hitting the draft hard this year for kids even with the amount of spots we'll likely have to fill.

(Incoming quality probably also pending outgoing requests - Oliver, Trac, Misc.)

Gut feel is there might be a few players, especially in finals teams, who haven't fully decided what they want to do yet, so I'm holding out some kind of hope, even if it's just a fools hope.

Depends what direction the coach wants to go in I suppose. Guerra seemed to indicate they are open to whatever the guy they appoint suggests.

Yeah that's a fair call. Would be a surprise for them to select a coach not aligned with their perception of the list though given that's why they just sacked one...

Yeah that's fair there are always a few surprises that come out between the Grand Final and trade week but at this stage I'm tempted dust off this old avatar.
