What’s his true value? Disregarding what Saints actually have to offer

29 and injury prone but still a very good, contracted player who will do well in a better side. St Kilda also offering him quite a large contract so the trade value should probably reflect that.

Late first in a shallow and compromised draft? Any players that St Kilda would be willing to part with?

They should table Jack Steele, a similarly aged former AA who has fallen out of their best midfield.

Of course you would but there's a good chance Marshall will be doing what Ryan is doing right now - keen to take a better offer elsewhere.

Jack Steele is the most interesting one though for WCE I think.

Some Saints fans won't be drawn on him, I assume because he's been captain and is a popular figure whereas others see him as expendable and worth considering moving on for a good deal.

It'll be interesting what the reality is - if West Coast do hold any interest you'd think an offer to him would be coming soon as the club has been quite swift with it's list changes and has no other major contract calls in play with Oscar Allen departing and Harley Reid staying.

However, 30 yr old inconsistent small forwards don't go for much these days despite the romantism eagles fans have.

Footywise he's expendable.

Whether it's good business expending your Captain, I'm not close enough to the inner workings to make that call.
