If the Saints split pick 7 it could unlock a lot of the reported trade targets they are after.

They split pick 7 for Hawks first & WCE start of second rounder so say 14 & 19

Then they use 14 as part of deal to grab one of Mackenzie or Flanders (I can't see them getting both)

The other split pick 19 is used to get Aleer from GWS. Pick 19 has extra value as its the first pick on night 2 so teams will be after it.

As those picks can't be traded back to us for Ryan we get back the first rounder Geelong offer for Marshall if he decided to leave.

WCE Get: 7, 17 (Geelong first)
WCE Lose: Ryan, 14 (Hawks F1), 19 WCE 2nd

STK Get: Ryan, Mackenzie/Flanders, Aleer
STK Lose: 7, Marshall

GEE Get: Marshall
GEE lose: 17

That would be the bones of it with some additional picks to balance things out.

STK get more currency to bring all there targets & if both Flanders & Mackenzie said yes then they would still have future currency to get that done as you can trade 2 years in advance now.

WCE move up the order & can hopefully grab Cummings or Farrow & also get another late first rounder on top of it. Would give us 1,2,7 & 17

Geelong just simply get the ruckman they are after for a fair price.

This is why I don’t understand the apparent request by us to the AFL to anti-dilution. It looks to be a perfectly simple trade. We have more pics than we’ll use. Surely Brisbane won’t decline a third rounder?
Might be keeping it dry in order to upgrade an earlier pick. I know the points system has changed a bit this year, is an early 3rd worth points for a team like GC looking to bank points for their NGAs? If so it may help us prise out pick 6(?)

Kane's not wrong haha

Honestly, given our hand. We should easily walk away with 4 top 10 picks.

To be honest, we shouldn't be picking night 2. We should be done in the first round, unless we can prelist NGA and Charlie
I can see us with a bit of horse trading getting 3 top ten picks.

Not sure how you get to four.

That would be a great outcome for all involved.

What a shame for Carlton.
Let’s not bail them out of their poor list.

We finally have a situation where we have both multiple picks in round 1 prob the first two of draft.

We don’t need to do anything to take both quality and quantity. We already have that. Try and improve hawks pick and end 19 via Ryan etc and hit the draft hard.
Yeah agreed. We should have surplus picks in the second or third rounds. Use those to grab senior players that are available.

Under no circumstances should we be trading 1 or 2 unless it nets us multiple top 10 picks. Surely they’ve learnt from last year.

I struggle to see how a ruckman who will be 30 at the start of the season with no AAs, no premiership, no BnF would be worth a 1st rounder.

Geelong are pretty astute at the trade table and will not be offering a 1st for Roma.

Jed’s not playing because he’s a big oaf who can’t kick straight

Levi Casboult mk2 don’t at me

Cornes: "Don't stuff it up."

Cornes if all our draftees aren't in AA contention by round 3: "See, I told them not to stuff it up, and look what they've done."

I would be happy moving back with Essendon depending on who we want & players we are after. 2 for 5 & 22. That 22 then gets bundled with other picks to get Suns 6 as they need points.

Essentially its 2 for 6 & 7. Say if it got you Cummings & Sharp/Farrow over CDT would you be happy?

He's contracted & Geelong are chasing him. Things aren't in Geelongs favour this time & STK don't have to do anything. Also Ruckman always cost more.

Well that’s just it, we don’t need KPFs. If the new ruck rules and 5 on the bench happen I think most teams will play 2 versatile athletic ruckman unless they have a gun ruck with a huge tank like Gawn or Xerri.

Jed’s defensive pressure is superb and probably better than most of our small forwards which is appealing but I don’t know if Jed, Jobe and Snake can all play F50 at once if none of them are going to ruck there.
I don't know if the link to Walter is real or not but if it is, why when we have a paddock full of KPF's?
The only thing I can think is WC see him as an elite KPD?
His draft year he beat everyone who challenged him, even D Curtin.
His goal kicking is the thing that seems to not improved greatly since his draft year.
Maybe better scouts have more of an idea in here, but this is the only reason I can think of why we may be linked.

Take WCE777 three-way with Saints and Geelong

WCE Get: 7, 17 (Geelong first)
WCE Lose: Ryan, 14 (Hawks F1), 19 WCE 2nd

STK Get: Ryan, Mackenzie/Flanders, Aleer
STK Lose: 7, Marshall

GEE Get: Marshall
GEE lose: 17

Then trade 2, 17, Future 2R to Essendon for 4,5 (Provide there interest in Duursma in real)

Go to draft with 1,4,5,7 plus NGA

We've already had inquiry on pick 2 (which we don't already have). I feel vic clubs are circling CTD and Duursma

Pick 14 and pick 19 are worth ~300 more points than pick 7. In that instance we could offer them to GC and get pick 6 back (plus about ~170 points to GC), plus a player/later pick. We could still then ask for pick 17 for Ryan.

Essendon have pick 5 and 6, not 4 and 5.

Somebody from Carlton is selling inside information to the media as a part time job?

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Carlton has bleed information from within, for over a decade now.

As much as I would like to take credit it was Wce17 who came up with it and I just agreed.
I think it has the bones of the starting point.
