I’m thinking that Port’s only real AA hope Zak Butters, although a top tier player of the comp and a great season, that he not going to be in the final 22. Purely because of team performance, not his own.

His 2025 numerical output backs that up, career highs almost across the board
Avg 2023 / 2024 vs 2025
Disposals: 27.5 / 27.1 / 28.0
Goals + Assists: 1.1 / 1.0 / 1.2
Clearances: 4.4 / 4.9 / 6.6
Tackles: 3.4 / 4.1 / 5.1
Inside 50: 5.2 / 4.6 / 5.0
Rebound 50: 1.6 / 1.5 / 1.9
Disp Eff: 72.0 / 71.6 / 72.4

His best games were against the better teams too, Adelaide x2, Hawthorn, GWS, Brisbane, Fremantle.

Can understand if he gets in, can understand if he misses out.

Tall forwards will be very interesting with King hitting 69 goals tonight, which would have won him the Coleman in 11 of the last 13 years. Despite this he seems rated in most teams floating around below Cameron, Gunston and Thilthorpe. Mabe they go for 4 talls? Would be stiff to be pipped by Thilthorpe having kicked 14 more goals.

King has 16 goals against top 8 teams in 10 games.

Gunston has 18 goals but only 8 games.

Thilthorpe also has 18 goals but in 10 games. Fairly close.

Does King's 7 goals against Essendon mean much?

not sure it does although he has had pretty good year, would be around the mark.
probably doesn't offer much compared to other key forwards in terms of mark/kick goals in his position though.

7 Goal Assists in more games than Gunston who had 17 Goal Assists. Very much the "I will either kick a goal or we dont kick a goal" type of forward. Certainly worked for Tony Lockett. But Lockett wasnt surrounded by 15 x 1st round draft picks.

My final team

Grundy and Zorko most unlucky. Zorko and Clark is even and personal choice. With Thilthorpe I couldn't put in Grundy.

My only qualm would be picking Dawson as a HF over Heeney who has similar midfield stats but kicked 20 more goals, 15 more marks inside 50 etc but realise this may be so you can put your captain on the field to start

YEah I made that change. Dawsom is also a mid forward type but not same level as Heeney.

finger crossed for our boy Nick Vlastuin getting the nod tonight...
deserves a spot in defence, but got some great competition to beat out

kind of like jeremy cameron's bags this year against vfl teams.

Funnily enough now he's a mid and not a wingman he will be locked in for the wing position

Don't even get me started. Pick the ultra quick Mills on a wing though lol and I love Callum but the bloke couldn't outrun a turtle.

Last one for the year (forgot to do last night), Goals and Assists for H&A:

1. Jeremy Cameron 97 (83/14)
2. Jack Gunston 79 (62/17)/Aaron Naughton (60/19)
4. Ben King 76 (69/7)/Riley Thilthorpe (55/21)
6. Mitch Georgiades 65 (58/7)/Jamie Elliott (52/13)
8. Rhylee West 62 (39/23)
9. Logan Morris 61 (48/13)
10. Jack Higgins 60 (46/14)

Aaron Naughton is the first player to finish top 3 in this stat to fail to make the squad since I've been recording it. I expect Cameron, Gunston, King, Elliott and Pickett to be the actual forwards in the side.

Is Logan Morris the youngest to be in the top 10?

i think my ultimate hope is they don't shoehorn midfielders onto the HFF, which has been happening since the beginning of time.

budwah would in 2007 surely, if not 2008, so...would be close.
Yeah, I've been recording since 2019 so...

EDIT: Buddy is a January birthday compared to May so whilst Buddy's 2007 he was 20, the months mean that Morris is younger
