2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

A bit out there - don't hate on me - but with the loss of Jimmy, I'd like to see Garcia tried as a small defender. IMO he would be more valuable in that position for us than as another mid.
We're thin on other options and will have enough midfield depth.
He was one of our best in the tough stretch and he looked quality with ball I. Hand when he came back in. Honestly. Now you want to move him.

Thanks for that. I started doing something similar beginning with 1987 (start of the national comp) but never finished it.
It’s amazing that Carlton and Essendon will always be considered successful clubs because they won flags 80+ years ago.
Richmond is surprising. Three flags in four years and they’re still only 41.1%. Have to give some credit to the Cats, 62.1 is amazing.
I think between 2000 and 2010 we were close to the best. Now I’m sad.

We've played in 7 draws since 2000.

2000 v West Coast
2002 v Sydney
2007 v Western Bulldogs
2010 v Hawthorn
2010 v Collingwood
2011 v Richmond
2018 v Greater Western Sydney

I think those numbers are incorrect.
R21 2015 vs Geelong was a draw. The same game Stevie J got ran down in the goal square by Shane Savage.

I think between 2000 and 2010 we were close the the best. Now I’m sad.

One thing we definitely miss in our current team from that period (fingers crossed on Max) is we had some of the best forwards going around at the time--Gehrig, Kossie, Rooey and Milney. We need to get this aspect of the team right.

Jsos will have a big impact on our ball movement. Hammer has had an admirable year down back but he is a big handbrake on our ability to rebound. His ball use is a big reason why I don’t think Hammer is good enough in defence to play in a finals team.
