Yep. Should be 1 bench slot for a defender, one for a mid, one for a forward and one for a 2nd ruck.
I’m fine with flexing the final spot between second ruck or extra mid but agree seven genuine forwards and backs should make it.

Not according to the coaches or the players.
richards is competing with far more competitive vote pollers for AFLCA votes within his side than daicos is.

the leigh matthews trophy is a bit of a nothing award - most players arent watching neutral games in their spare time

All I see here are excuses.

Both the players and the coaches deemed him better.

woeful games, shut up mate

hes had 2 bad games, thats literally all, look at his stats.

That’s why this side isn’t picked off just stats

I'm baffled as a Hawks fan how Daicos is on the bench.

Which mid does he get picked ahead of? Or do you put him at HBF instead of Dale?

For those questioning Battle, probably didnt watch many Hawthorn games. Was okay the first couple of games but was brilliant. Kept all of the key forwards quiet every time he was put on them.

Battle is low key one of the worst selections I've seen. He honestly I thought was lucky to be in the squad, let alone in the team. How he's had a better year than Worrell or Vlaustin is beyond me.

Elliott is incredibly stiff though, should be there instead of Bailey or even Heeney.

The rest I don't have too much of an issue with but they should probably pick a 7th defender on the bench.

Gawn polled coaches votes in 16 of 23 games. Grundy 11.

Grundy's first half of the year was average.
His second half of the year (okay, last third) was probably competition leading though. He was stiff to miss.

Yeah, I still don't rate the AA shocking award!
Josh Battle over Vlastuin and Worrell give me a spell...

Battle is very high on the reverse Coleman to be fair. As soon as they picked Taylor they were going to be tough to get in with Andrews being a stone cold certainty as one defender l

My Team

Worrell HAD To be in the team no exceptions. Battle for Worrell was absolutely criminal.

Vlastuin in my view was a better option than Dale, as was Zorko.

Holmes was massively underrated all season by everyone however I'm happy with Hugh McLuggage

I'm happy with Bailey over Elliot (IF) they went for a more dynamic forward than a lead up forward like Jamie Elliot. I would have chosen Greene however.

Tom Greene was my next midfielder (Again underrated) but I'm not unhappy with their selection of Serong.

Huge mistake missing Worrell, Vlastuin was a mistake. The rest I'm satisfied with variations in opinion.

I don't think Serong deserved a spot, he got tagged out of a few games and most Supercoaches that picked him regretted it.

Clark was deserving for Freo, he was one of the best Supercoach defenders, they should just let Supercoaches pick the team.

Think Serong was lucky to make it but not convinced Holmes and Butters had a definitively better year.

More would have had another forward or back instead.
I’d argue that Butters had a career best year stats wise, but similarly the team performance does influence selection so not that fussed.

More kicks
More handballs
More marks
More tackles
More goals+assists/score involvements
More effective disposals
Higher disposal efficiency
Less changers
Less turnovers
More intercepts

Serong does wins the clearance battle though, and edges the inside 50 count.

That’s why this side isn’t picked off stats and his “form” coincided with him going back. He's not getting in as a HBF
Going Back???? like playing in the backline? what do u mean, look at his centre bounce attendances.

When i say he has had 2 bad games i am dead serious, look at his player ratings.

Didn’t need 4 mids on the bench but then again you have Thilhorpe as second ruck

What?

Are you confusing Butters with Rozee?
