2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.

Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

I come in peace. Some good acquisitions. Especially good to see Nasiah is locked in for a bit.

Just curious to know about your cap space, and if smarter people than me here can explain how it’s possible St Kilda can throw such big money around. Have you got a few people on unders? Genuinely interested to know.

Will attempt.
Have paid only 95% of SC for reportedly 4 years.
Caro Wilson reported we had to front loaded all our contracts or we would have paid only 85% this year.
Also the contracts have no SC increases due in 2027 built in and apparently only Essendon is the only other clubs doing that.
So put it all together
1. 5% x 4 of the SC
2. Current contract front loaded to 2025, meaning freed up SC in 2025 going forward
3. Any increase in the SC is basically free SC space from 2027.
If you combine the 5% x years saved plus the space saved by front loading contracts, there is conservatively 4 million and up to 5 mill as a war chest without touching the limit of the SC.

How about we give pick 7 & Marshall for Curnow.
Then the Blues could turn their two 1st round picks into a better pick to get Duff-Tyler.
Then they could start their re-build with him

Windhager just doesn't make any sense to let go. He's the type we should be chasing and Cmac is a downgrade at this point and certainly no guarantee that he'll end up a better player long term either.

Marshall going makes sense because it's really rare that two rucks has worked. If we could turn him into Flanders I think it probably adds to the midfield mix. Not sure that we need both CMac and Flanders.

That kind of aligns with where I'm at too. I'm completely against trading our first this year so that's a reasonable proposition, but you just today said to me Flanders is worth 2 firsts so I'll put that down to contraianism.
