2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

So Pou only 2 years when it was reported to be 4 earlier in the year

Biproduct of increased offers to Windy & Nas?
feel like its more of a byproduct of his injuries as well as the nas and windy breaking out as much they did. After the sydney game and end of last year, i thought he was our midfield superstar coming into this season

Probably also the fact he hasn’t gotten his body right and shown what he’s capable of. So he’s backing himself to explode in those two years and then get the sort of payday he thinks he’s worthy of.

Two years added onto his current deal which ends in 2026, so it’s really three. We’ve already got quite a few out of contract in two years so it makes sense to stagger them a bit.

I’m obviously a long way behind as I have no idea how we’re now being discussed in the SOSOS talk around the traps, so what’s the go there?

Have we supposedly offered him 4 x $800K, when the other teams are offering him 4 x $600-ish?

And please tell me we aren’t going after both him AND Aleer, when we already have Wilkie, Caminiti and Tauru!?
Don’t think anyone knows.

But it appears to be one or the other and not both.

Might be in the minority but I’d at least have a conversation with Elijah Hollands. Football ability wise he is a very nice player.

Put a clause in the contract about any screw ups off field he’s gone. I reckon we’d at least have a meeting with him….

Hey, check out 6:30 onwards re TDK. Turns out he is the next ruck tap! Exciting!

I just watched it. I've watched TDK in actual games. He's not outstanding yet and if you look at a lot of those stats there is very small margins between a lot of clubs.

He will definitely help and I've said before we had the worst of both world with a poor inside brigade and a ruck that isn't a great tap exponent. That said ROMA is having a down year off no preseason and a serious injury and hasn't been as good.

And Richmond won three flags with a very adequate ruck and using pressure to win the ball back rather than relying on clearance. Macrae coming in has added an inside extractor too so we have taken steps to improve that.

I'm not down on TDK other than his contract cost and if he can use his leap with the new ruck rules he really could absolutely dominate. He's coming now so we just have to hope that he stays fit and gets some consistency in his game.

His biggest down side at the moment is that he dominates about 6 to 8 games a year and probably has that many poor games and the rest is somewhere in between. If we are paying him as a elite he's going to need to even that out a bit.

That's just not true.

Alright I'll concede they don't always but they do often go hand in hand. The overlap is high because the same biological, psychological, and social risk factors drive both.

Statistically it's around 50% of people with a drug use disorder that also experience mental health issues. It's not an insignificant number.
That 50% number is based on peer reviewed journals too so it's pretty reliable

At the start of the year he was carrying and almost willing Carlton throughout games.

Not, Cripps,Curnow,McKay,Walsh,Weitering etc.

It’s was TDK dragging them in games and keeping them competitive.

It’s not something the stats will show, but he was very dominant in the first half of the season.

Feels to me like jack Silvagni had been a fairly average player and then had 1 good (not amazing) season as a defender? What am I missing here
At one stage earlier in the year he was the no.4 ranked “key defender” in the league.

Not a huge fan of bringing in more old blokes who are walking injuries though.

We’ve been down that road with Hannebery, Crouch, Freeman, Jesse Smith, etc, and look at the games tallies of Silvagni (top) and Ryan. And Jack also missed all of 2024 as well.

Surely it’s minimum make the 8

Absolutely but if he gets on the fringes with a bad injury list I think he survives. If we end up around the same spot again or below he's going to have unbearable pressure on him.

Realistically. Let’s say every genuine player linked arrives.

The only player we can’t cover adequately would be Max King.

That TDK general thread is wild. The Blue Baggers are really showing their room temperature IQs.
You should go look at how many poty votes TDK gets between rounds 1-12.

It’s not tallied, but reviewing each game thread. He gets a boatload.

And then you have Carlton fans saying he isn’t good enough

Im sorry I’ve been pretty positive and comfortable about throwing the money.

If (and I repeat if) 4x800k for Jsos is valid then we need a solid look internally at what we’re doing.

Moving beyond the wild conflict of interest, Jsos averages 12 games a season and he’s not getting healthier as he approaches 30.

I know people are pleased we’re being aggressive but this is petering over to being reckless. Happy to be proven wrong and if we get him that he’s healthy.

It's what happens with adults with luke warm IQ / EQ have a tantrum and throw their toys out the cot. No valid discussion, no facts or stats, just vitriol and bile.

Your average entitled Carlton supporter still living off their previous success and unable to process where they are actually at over the last decade.

I say this purely objectively and with no malice. Cartlon & Essendon are utterly completely f**ked and mired in obscurity for the next 10 years if they don't pull their heads out of their ass.

By the time most of tepid IQ supporters and administration realize it will be too late. They still honestly believe they are entitled to success and premierships for just existing.

Thank f**k for Ross and Bassat stopping the rot with us. Even more impressive given it's without the favouritism show to both Carlton and Essendon across the years from the AFL.

Half of this board could’ve penned that 😎

Now now little one, we are being positive at the moment. No time for your negative emotions bubbling out. I'm manifesting greatness on us. Go back and pray for Hughesy to recover quickly. He needs you.
