There is precedence for players winning the brownlow medal the year after their dominant season.

The swan and judd brownlow is a classic example.
Swan should have won the 2010 comfortably but judd got it. Judd was by far the better player in 2011 but swan got it. So the umpires have a tendency to over correct.
That's what I'm hoping.

Doesn't matter - he gets the accolade of being an AA player again. No one ever references the notional position players are named in.
that's true, but its indicative of the clear anti Collingwood bias that permeates AFL level awards and teams since the selection of the team of the century. I just expect this stuff to happen now - I'm no longer shocked or surprised.

That might have been the case for the team of the century - but that was somewhat rectified by the creation of the Jock McHale Medal.

Pretty sure no one will remember - or at least they are actively forgetting - that the person who came up with the idea of that medal was a Pies supporter named Joffa.

you could mount a very good argument that the leading goalkicker medal should be named the Coventry Medal

You could certainly mount an argument that the medal shouldn't be called the Coleman based on lack of longevity. Although being the leading goalkicker in every season he played, bar his last, shortened one, is pretty amazing.

Unless they’re talking Matthew Pavlich. Full back, forward-mid, CHF, even a couple on the bench from memory. That’s versatility.

Elliotts first half of season was elite. Been average since the bye. You don’t make all Australian with half a season of good performances
You do if it’s the second half of the season - see Heeney and Bailey for prime examples.

There’s a formula out there which accounts for the recency bias so long as you’re not competing against an established legend, otherwise Grundy & Naughton would have sailed in

Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Abbey Holmes, Glen Jakovich, and Matthew Pavlich.

Not sure about Jackovich, but the others work for 7 or Fox
Pretty sure he used to worked for fox a few years ago, but now just on radio.

The selector panel definitely needs an overhaul.

I guess if Bucks coaches Dees, he'll be gone. And Pavlich too as he's now the Swans CEO.
