2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Paying $20 for the premium membership and you still get suspended is complete horse shit lol.

A few cups of coffee per year or the price of a sandwich and a drink.

I don't know the ins and outs of the club but i can tell you on the 28th of July i got a message saying , Nas staying 2 year deal , TDK done , Aleer Done , Flanders good as Done , Another EX Saints player wanted to come back but i doubt that will happen , then the next day another Bird Told me about how we have been talking with McKenzie's management.
I had messaged a few this info so it can be verified

Please don't keep this info under lock and key when us hungry birdies need our feed ;)

I know this is so not the point. But Cuz's ability to perform week in week out, including on the big stage, while also being a complete trainwreck off-field, is absolutely unparalleled. The second half of the 06 prelim is the best individual performance I have ever seen. Bar none

Still dreaming that we recruited him in 09. Massive sliding doors moment. I even have a vague recollection of him being given a Saints jumper before we pulled the offer. With him, I genuinely think we win both 09 and 10. We have 3 flags. Lovett never happens. Etc etc

Sure having him would have impacted others around the club. But onfield his performance never wavered. And its not like we didnt have our own internal issues. Plus we have been a dumpster fire since 2011 anyway. The last decade and a half would have been a lot easier to sit through with those cups in the cupboard

Hindsight says the risk was worth it but who knows what happens if we bring him in.

Does it impact the likes of Dal, Joey & BJ going through the middle? Do Roo and Co put their feelings aside long enough to make it work or do egos get in the way? Were Ross and the coaches equipped to handle any off field issues that came up in a mature enough way to keep the team on track for a flag?

Yeah, having him on Grand Final day would have been amazing but having him tear a hammy on prelim night against the Dogs... Not so much.

Ex Saint has to be Acres yeah?

On the outer at Carlton. SOS connection. Mature body to possibly replace Steele...

I wouldn't take him at this stage but I could understand us having the conversation if he reached out.

Only other possibility is that the Cats are gonna chuck Rhys Stanley in with their 1st rounder for RoMa?

😉

Stanley is a hundred million years old lol

Saw a post on Twitter that was absolutely adamant that Gresham had played his last game for the bombers. Please, for the love of god, not gresham

I left a hint back pages ago, pretty self explanatory if you saw it ;)

I don't understand why people are entertaining the idea of Ryan as a worthwhile one. He's a small forward. Has averaged a goal a game for the last four years. That would translate to a 22 or 23 goal year. Played 56 games out of a possible 92. Red flag right there. Why would you invest in a player like that who'll be 29 in October? Cgaf about speccies or flashes of brilliance. That will be Collard just give him a couple more years. Reckon if we're genuinely going for Ryan it will bite us on the arse. If so it needs to be cheap as chips. Really hope we're not considering investing some draft capital of value for a guy like that.
Good luck trying to kick a goal in that West Coast team. Owies is a good example of a drop off because it’s much harder to impact as a small forward on a team that won one match for the whole year.

What are you sending yourself messages at 2am again?
It was just the same stuff you were reading here at 1:55am but you'd forgotten where you heard it 5 mins later when you got back from the fridge.

If we get him I really hope you're right. I just don't want any more past his best, injury prone recruits who's cost is too high compared to his upside. D.Hannebery for example. Third rounder for Ryan then okay. But not more.

Hannebery was worth a try and I'll defend him forever

2018 Jade Gresham is exactly what our forwardline is missing! People forget his first 70 odd games were bloody good

Post achillies Gresham been stealing a living from 2 clubs. Would not even take him for our VFL side

Reminds me of this

WTF are you talking about, put the bottle down

Can't see Steele getting us more than a third rounder. Late Second at best. I think Ryan would cost similar.

Flanders for our future first plus a third rounder back
Aleer for future second
Ryan for third rounder
McKenzie for this year's first plus second rounder back

Leave us with a second and third plus whatever we get for Steele and /or Marshall (but prefer to keep)
