We’re scraping something alright.

Of clubs where players want to go to, we’d comfortably sit 18th of 18.

People need to wrap their heads around that.

We will never hit a premium target.

When things turn we may get better quality but there is a level of player we will simply never attract.

As things stand right now we are in the thick of over paying Mercs and the discarded.

We are such a poor destination that even players we target that we want and that want to come to us, we can’t get them to say it in public.

In terms of trading we could not be lower.

It’s never been brilliant but by god Cam Joyce and him waving wads of cash everywhere slid us into territory of being a joke and we’ve never recovered from it.

We wanted a big fish and ended up with Jarad Polec.

And won’t recover until we rise up the ladder to at least some sort of position that creates some respect.

So go and scout the state leagues properly and find people that know how to ID talent

Cool the jets!

Few of you will need medication come trade week when Brady and co hit full speed….plenty on here will go ape shit!

He's a 25 year old premiership player who we are probably signing for depth and giving nothing up for. Not worth worrying about, even if it's true.
Undersized forward who doesn't address any of the needs of our forward line, who has never kicked 20 in a season (and it took him a whole 25 games to get to 18) and has fallen off a cliff since his injury. Will also take up a list spot, likely have a 2-4+ year deal based on our history, and doesn't really make any sense.
Daniel is a premiership player too and .... ehhhh

It's not worth setting yourself on fire over, but I think a healthy dose of concern is warranted.

It would be a waste of yet another list spot, to go along with the other hacks wasting a spot. There is plenty to worry about if it is true. Especially this year where we expect to only bring in 1-2 via trade.

You couldn't be more glass half empty about it.

He would bring premiership experience.

Players take a while to bounce back from Achilles injuries. They usually take 12 month to get back playing and 18-24 months to get back fully.

If we get him cheap then it could be a really smart move. Buying at minimum value, before he fully recovers.

Zac Fisher started up FWD and Carlton hoped he could fulfil the HLf-FWD role. Fishy botched that so Voss tried to play him off HBF to use Fishy's elite disposal skills. Went ok at that and got traded to us and has done F@*k all since he landed with us. Jury is well and truly out on Fisher.

The only way I could rationalise this is if the rumours of Fisher wanting to go back to WA are true. But even then, it's a valuable spot.

Why can't we be interested in premiership experience amongst players who still have something to offer though?

Verbatim from the Melbourne board, post-(alleged) injury mismanagement: 'slow, can't kick 30m. Smart though.'

Sound familiar?

You've basically said he's worth it because he played in a premiership, and we should back our medical team (lol) to get him good.
Plenty of premiership players couldn't lead a dog on their evening walk. There's no indication he will bring any kind of leadership to the team.
If we're after premiership experience, I'd rather use the spot on someone who is likely to be a walk up start on match day, and not 3rd in the pecking order behind what we've already got.

Couldn’t Zac Fisher just play this role? Isn’t that what he did at the end for Carlton?
Zac Fisher appears to me to want to kick a goal of the year contender from deep in the pocket, running towards the boundary line, a big looping lefty across his body that swings back through the sticks post high while he lands, sliding on his chest almost into the fence, while at no time was there ever an opponent on his arse putting him under pressure.

Then doing a Tarzan call while fixated on the replay being shown on the big screen.

At least, that's how he looks to me.

A big part of our success in the last two games was that we went small and applied ridiculous pressure. We need a depth of guys who can do that and also have good disposal.
It’ll be interesting to see how the pieces fit in the forward line next year.

Zurhaar, Curtis and Larks are obviously locked. And Sheezel will need forward rotations.

So do we run with one or two of Trembath and Darling?

And then, do we run with two or three of Konstanty, Payne, Harvey and Banch (and possibly Spargo)?

You say that like being glass half full is a bad thing.

For a rumour, that hasn't happened, it's completely normal to look at the potential positives and not melt down about the worst possible outcome.

He's 25, the perfect age for us to add. He has played in big games. He has played in a premiership.

We don't want to fill the list with 20 year olds. Of course it would be nice to get Kosi, instead. But if Spargo is cheap then he could work out

What does cheap look like? Past experience doesn't instil me with the confidence that cheap doesn't include our first pick in the draft our second rounder.

The 5th interchange spot will help.
