Can Port Power win a premiership under Josh Carr?

Now that we know the Power won't win one under Kenny, what's the chances they can win one under Carr?

I think Carr's reign will be a continuance of what was happening under Ken, as I dont think he was the reason the Power wernt winning like some expected them to. I believe Ken got the most out of that squad, and the long term outlook for the squad is not as good as what they had.

We have Boak and Rioli retired, Wines on the way out, and some large list holes, that arnt easy to fix.

Port over the next five years will swing between 8th and 14th place, and I dont think he will get past five years without making a prelim at least.

It may be a shock, but the affairs of the SA clubs are of far more interest to people from SA than the affairs of Vic clubs are.
Its a two team town, so in reality its no different than if a St Kilda supporter asked a question about North.

The question is more about if the squad is the limiting factor or if the coach was. I think the squads talent is the lowest common denominator, and not the coach.
So, it doesnt really matter how good a coach Carr is if he doesnt have the cattle.

Port have #WealthBias, #VICBIAS and #Crowbias against them, so if he does win a flag with Port it will be glorious.

As a glorious Port Premier he will be forgiven one (1) floggish act eg personal payout on the club president on the podium.

Port have a beaut drive that borders on the insane,and that helped them do it once.

So while it is unlikely they can do it, they did it before, and I will sink a few in their honour if they do.

Bonus points if they beat the Crows, more likely it will be us because we are usually thereabouts and in Grand Finals vs the Pies the first ones free.

Would have to trade and draft excellent for the next 2 years to put us in a position to have a list capable.

I actually think Port will rebound fairly quickly and think their list isn't in as bad a shape as many think. They are a long way off a premiership but could easily play finals in 2026.

They have the top end talent and most of them are still young. It might take them a couple.of years to get some decent depth onto their list but that can be done.

Of course if they lose Butters it would set them back.

Carr has a lot of good to work with, already knows the players, and expecting a bit more strength and mongrel in this group after early post-season whispers. Like probably 14 teams, the best 23 is good enough but also like about 8 of those 14, is seriously tested when injury runs hit.

We will on one of the younger sides out there in 2026 , of the 9 players on our 2025 list 28 and over, we’ll probably have retired delisted traded 6 of them (Boak, Atkins, Rioli, Finlayson, Soldo, Burton) leaving Wines, Aliir, Byrne Jones as the only seniors.

I think the list below is good enough to play finals next year, it’s got holes of course but some top-line proven quality too.

Carr needs to change some things, and they need to fix some holes in the list, but of course he can if the club does everything right.

I hate to sound like captain obvious, but I think the answer will depend largely on whether he's a good coach or not. At present he's untried and unproven so who knows?
