Thats the purpose of the week off. Allow every team to get a break. Allow players to freshen up and get over some minor niggles. That way finals would be a better spectacle.

Personally im a fan of the old survival of the fittest where there were no breaks, just teams had to rely on momentum. But I dont make the rules.

Well it enabled the Bulldogs to go on their run in 2016. They bought back key players in first week of finals (Liberatore, Stringer and Roughead) had they played the previous week they wouldn’t have had them and probably would have been eliminated.

I agree. I love Cookie, and actually see a lot of Stevie J in him, but he can’t play a final after 4 days. Was anyone kept out of the 2’s today? Because surely anyone under serious consideration wouldn’t have played today. Pedlar maybe?

I would have thought the Crows would have benched Cook at half time if he was under consideration. I would say the sides been selected.

Max and pedlar were the only available players who didn’t play. So Thursday is the 23 from last week plus those two

Does that mean Draper plays then?
By my count there were 25 (or 26) who didn't play SANFL today so are in the frame for Thursday

1. Keays
2. Berry
3. Curtin
4. Thilthorpe
5. Murray
6. Pedlar
7. Dawson
8. Walker
9. Soligo
10. Michalanney
11. Taylor
12. Hinge
13. Worrell
14. Peatling
15. Neal-Bullen
16. Laird
17. Milera
18. Dowling
19. Fogarty
20. Smith
21. Draper
22. Bond
23. O'Brien
24. Cumming
25. Keane
26. If you include Rachele

Assume no Rachele
Two of those 25 are emergencies
One of the talls is also named as an emergency (McAndrew or Burgess)

Murph's review meeting didn't go too well I'm afraid

Davis: So what you do is you push up to the stoppages and you let your man drop off?

Murphy: That... that's right

Davis: Well, then I gotta ask, why can't the midfielders just compete at the stoppages themselves and we keep even numbers ahead of the ball, huh?

Murphy: Well, uh, uh, uh because, uh inside midfielders are not good at delivering the ball.

Davis: So you physically deliver the ball to the forwards?

Murphy: Well, no, the wingmen and half backs do that or, or, or the mids when they spread from the contest.

Davis: Then you must physically help them win the ball at the stoppage?

Murphy: Well.... no. Yeah, I mean, sometimes.

Davis: Well, what would you say you do here?

Murphy: Well, look, I already told you. I push up to the goddam stoppages to help the mids! I am good at keeping shape around the contest! I have leadership skills! Can't you understand that?! What the hell is wrong with you people?!

Interesting. I don’t think Draper plays after last week, and similarly Bond, so that’s the 23 with Pedlar playing. unless of course Rachelle gets up and then I assume no Pedlar.

There was no Pedlar or Draper but I think they would and should go with Pedlar. Liked McAndrew’s game and Borlase was great. Maybe Pedlar is also not required but held back for insurance

The good news is that Murphy wasn't held back. And the better news is he had 7 kicks, 4 handballs and 1 point.

Means he shouldn't be anywhere near the field this finals series.
He was deplorable, no chance he plays, mind you it’s the same effort he’s been putting up at AFL for years, even when standing a couple of metres away from Josh

Would have to assume Cook had all but guaranteed himself a spot on Thursday now?
Him and Nankervis looked head and shoulders above the some of the absolute top up plodders in our SANFL side. "Stop hacking the ball out of the pack number 57"

Pedlar, Taylor and Dowling should play but they wouldn't want to have a 'mare on Thursday night.

Cook, 6 snags in a SANFL final.

Good from you Brayden, where has that performance been for the last 3 years?

To be fair to Cook, he did force his way into the best 22 earlier in the year from a similar performance.

That said, it's worth a bit of cynicism here seeing for whatever reason, Cook routinely terrorises Glenelg's defense.

I expect a melt free selection night this week.

With 4 players unavailable (Rankine, Rachele, Crouch, Ryan) and 14 playing in the SANFL yesterday that leaves 25 to select between. Last week’s 23 plus Michalanney and Pedlar.

Since Michalanney is a lock, that leaves selecting 4 of the following; Taylor, Bond, Smith, Pedlar, Draper and Dowling. It will depend on the structure we decide to use against the Pies.. Will we “tag” either or both of Nick and Josh Daicos? Will we use a loose man in defence?

My preference;
In - Michalanney
Out - Draper.

I would prefer that we use Michalanney on Elliot and give the Josh Daicos tag to Bondy. Zac plays his usual high half forward role in attack, Keays plays closer to goal and Dowling plays a combination of wing and half forward.

I was a bit harsh on Billy when I watched the game live. Watching the replay he did have a couple of poor moments but unlike most of our fringe players, he can find the ball.
