Collingwood supporters thought Hill would play the last game against us in the lead up because he was training that week, I wouldn’t take any of their speculation about it too seriously.

Sounds like he played the match sim, but with 1 quarter of footy in 2 months and not a heap of training, it’s hard to see him coming in as anything other than the sub (which is what they did the only game he played since the bye). Would be a big risk in a final if he isn’t match fit.

Hill has only been to 2 recent training sessions.

Doubt he plays.

Fair point. I think a mental hurdle to overcome is bigger than a physical injury. Both have been out for the same amount of time more or less

But I don’t know how a run in the 2s changes that. Either he is fit to play or he isn’t, and if he is fit you’re playing him in the 1s.

I should have clarified, when I said fit to play I meant mentally as well as physically.

My point is that we shouldn’t really be playing armchair psychologists here.

Who knows, maybe the opportunity to get away with his teammates and play in a big final is actually exactly what he needs in this moment, we don’t know.

They’ll know whether he’s right to play far better than we do, so I’d say if he’s named than in all likelihood he’s good to go.

I was replying to the comment that the Pies must be desperate if they’re willing to play him. Clearly, they’re better with him, and if we’re sitting here speculating on whether or not he’s right to go, then we are being armchair psychologists.

We don’t know what he’s going through, what he needs, or how ready he is right at this moment. It’s why I think the original comment I replied to is a silly one. If he’s named, then all likelihood is he’s good to go. Just as it is if we name Rach.

Being a boat fisherman over many years I've learnt a lot about reading the weather accurately.

This far out, a week away, a key is to look at the 2 days following the day you are interested in. Those days will give you a fair indicator of how it should actually turn out.


At this stage it is saying 60% and 50% chance of rain on the following 2 days. Usually that % means it will barely rain, and probably not at all.

So looking at that, it SHOULD be dry conditions for the game.

FR0GGY , re the good/bad decision Poll:
There was big "news" on TV when it was announced MM was training with the forwards, which I thought was a likely fake-out so far from the game; you know, make Collingwood plan for it.
Then in his presser Max said he wants to play back but he's happy to play wherever the Coaches want just as long as he gets to pull on the jumper (gotta love him for that! ).

Anyway, I can't vote because I won't know if it's a good decision until after the game and if he plays back, it's moot.
