The Trump administration last week approved the sale of 3,350 ERAM missiles to Ukraine. The weapons, which have a range between 150-280 miles and are air-launched should start to arrive in around six weeks. A cheap short ranged missile (150-280 miles) that can operate in EM contested environments and deliver a 500lb warhead. How cheap? Allegedly $850m USD dollars for the missiles, which works out at a bit over $250,000 per missile (if that's all that's in the deal)

The vehicle was designed based on the ‘first unmanned contact’ concept. It performs the most dangerous tasks in place of soldiers and reduces risks for troops in combat zones.

The primary mission of the Combat Gereon is to operate in high-risk areas: conducting reconnaissance, clearing routes, and performing advanced surveillance. This enables soldiers to avoid direct contact with the enemy and preserve lives.

From ASTRA:

Throat slit and thrown into a pit: Russian servicemen tortured 8 Ukrainian prisoners of war, cutting off their ears and genitals. One of the Ukrainian soldiers survived, crawling for 5 days with a slit throat to Ukrainian positions and recounted his ordeal through a diary

This was reported by Sergey Ryzhenko, the General Director of the Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital in Dnipro, and the publication “Suspilne.”

On August 17, Ukrainian soldier Vladislav was brought to a medical facility in the Dnipropetrovsk region in critical condition. His throat had been slit. The man underwent surgery. He wrote in a diary about what happened to him before evacuation. Vladislav reported that he was captured by Russians near Pokrovsk. According to him, he and 7 other Ukrainian soldiers taken prisoner were tortured.
The first captured scouts had their eyes gouged out, lips, genitals, ears, and nose cut off. Vladislav’s throat was slit — he was the last of the eight soldiers whom the Russian military threw into a pit — they thought they were all dead.

“He says he was lucky because when they were thrown into the pit, trash was also poured on top so it wouldn’t be so visible. There was a broken bottle there, and since his hands were tied, he managed to cut the rope with that bottle,” Victoria, the soldier’s wife, told journalists.

After waiting for the Russian soldiers to leave, Vladislav bandaged his throat with underwear and crawled for almost five days to Ukrainian positions, the hospital’s chief doctor said.

“When the throat is slit, when a person is bleeding out — chances are slim. He held on until the end, but, you know, what stands out is that he was confident until the end that everything would be fine,” the doctor said.

Sarcasm detected. From NOEL Reports:

Marta Kos, EU Ambassador to Ukraine: “The EU Delegation in Kyiv was damaged by today’s Russian strikes on civilian areas.”

Strong condemnations are already flowing in, surely enough to terrify Moscow.

So… he was quoted as saying

VLADISLAV

Baby don’t ask me

Don’t ask me

"It concerns the countries that still trade with Putin: China, India, others in Asia, also Latin America."

"Unfortunately, it looks as though China is allowing Russia to wage this war. Despite many statements from China that the war must not expand and that a ceasefire is needed,.."
thanks. but it misses the central issue.

thanks. but it misses the central issue.
My post wasn’t meant to point out the “central issue”. My post was to point out that for all the countries supporting Ukraine we have countries that are supporting russia knowing that russia isn’t looking for peace and are indirectly condoning attacks on civilians.

:edit
I do agree with the “central issue”.
In a 2022 speech Zelensky said that Ukraine was enduring a 9/11 every day as it battled Russian forces.

There's no "China government strongly condemns massive Russian attack on Kyiv"

So its been two weeks since Two Week TACO and his **** buddy had a meeting.

Two Week TACO said he would know in 2 weeks whether he was being played (yet again) by Putin and that something would come out of that meeting.

Well its been crickets since then and once again Putin has played Two Week TACO to a tee.

"In the longer term, Ukraine’s membership in NATO and the EU remains the strongest guarantee for its security and that of wider Europe," Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur, told the Kyiv Independent.
But with NATO membership off the table for now, EU membership still a long way off….

According to Foreman, the only thing Ukraine can rely on are its own armed forces.
"I think the biggest security guarantee is ongoing support to Ukraine and the Ukrainian army with money, arms and expertise to deny Russia any military advantage and to raise the costs of a renewed invasion," he said.

Comments from the recently appointed head of RSC Energia suggests things are not going well.

"In reality, the Russian space program is chronically underfunded, and the war against Ukraine has only accelerated the depletion of talent and resources. Russia cannot afford new spacecraft and rockets when it needs munitions and men for the front lines.

Maltsev's comments come as the business climate in Russia appears to be growing more desperate. The prime rate at which the Central Bank is lending money has now risen to 18 percent, and the rates for business loans are higher as capital becomes tighter in the country's wartime economy."

He should probably get "falling from a basement window" included in his life insurance.

Interesting point in the comments about the companies name. The proper name is S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation "Energia.". Got a similar ring to it as "Space Battleship Yamato". Allegedly in Russian Cyrillic, <<Energia>> write backwards is <<Korolev>>. For those who don't know Sergei Korolev was the 'Great Designer' of the early and wildly successful Soviet space program.

Political scientist Viktor Shlinchak (Ukraine), on the other hand, sees a signal to Beijing. He writes on Facebook:

“With today’s shelling of Kyiv, Putin is showing China that he will not be dictated to by Trump. In a week’s time the leader of Russian terrorism will visit Beijing. There he needs assurances that the Chinese will back him - at the very least by increasing their oil purchases. In the best case even by openly selling him weapons (under the pretext that the US is doing the same with Ukraine). As strange as it may sound, the ball is gradually rolling towards China, not the US. Because Beijing really could put this war on hold with its decisions. Or it could do the opposite and push the game forward.

Old Yaks become drone hunters. 10-12% of Shahed class drones shot down are by air in very early WW1 fashion by a bloke with a machine gun.

Gun (of what ever sorts) carried by aircraft have the advantage of speed over those mounted on vehicles and can potentially intercept drones earlier and over a longer range. They must be getting pretty close to the front if they have to shake off SAM's. I'm waiting for the turret to be reborn on aircraft, first for drones and then defence.

Drones are a cheap mass assault weapon, cheap low tech defense would appear to be the best counter. F16's are good and all, but is not effective in hunting low speed low cost drones. A modern multirole fighter is simply too fast, too expensive to operate and its weapon loadout is overkill. A machine gun armed trainer can be purchased and operated for a fraction of the cost of an F16 and kill more drones per sortie.

Indeed this idea of high tech low tech mix has been discussed in many areas for years now, including in defense.

A drone fitted with a shot gun with bird shot is probably all its needed to knock out an enemy drone.
