If we get a home prelim, Geelong is best as a win in that greatly increases the chance of a non Victorian grand finalist. = Neutral GF ground and crowd.

But if we don't. We're still a chance to make it the hard way. Anything is possible.

But hopefully we make history this week and finally beat Collingwood in a final.

They would have to make their own history to beat us - we're unbeaten in finals at AO (albeit from a sample size of three).

The last time we played Collingwood in a final in Adelaide (well the only time) was 2008 at Football Park. The crowd that day was 37,685.

This is going to be close to 55k (reckon it will be well over the capacity). Now 15k might be Collingwood.

I see Rory gave the Adelaide crowd another lecture about 'behaving well around children' on Thursday night during the Sunday Footy Show yesterday. Why do they keep building this up as though something bad will happen? If you keep talking about it, no shit it will stick in the minds of some people and maybe they will do something stupid. There is just zero need to keep bringing it up as though everyone in Adelaide are a bunch of ferals that can't contain themselves, it's just flat out patronising tbh.

If the AO/SAPOL feel there is need for extra help, that's their decision, not the media! I can't remember such persistent talk about crowd behaviour before it's happened.

Bit of a rare case though with the game being a final and only a couple of weeks after a top 3 player was rubbed out for the finals over a bad word said against a player in the team we’re up against. I’m expecting a much more hostile crowd than the norm. Whether a few DHs cross the line or not could come down to Rory’s speech on SFS.

Are we taking Dan Houston’s 😉

I hope they win, but I won't be devastated if they lose.
Devastated, me neither; I get that
BUT
the Crows have a wonderful opportunity not just because we're playing Finals (8 sides are).
Being one of only two sides to get two Home Finals, we go again if we lose to the Mugpies.

There's no guarantee we'll finish Top-2 next year or after that.
The chance is now. The opportunity is now.

There are 2 possibilities ie playing 3 games to win the Flag, or 4.
W-break-W-W is the way to go.
L-W-W-W will do it too and some would say it might relieve the pressure of maintaining a hot streak as well as keeping them up by playing weekly.

I think best use of this opportunity is
--- beat Collingwood by enough to send shivers through the rest of them, but I'll take a win of any size.
--- then rest up, fix any niggles and trust Burgess to get the boys cherry-ripe for a home PF during our week off,
--- win that then throw everything at the GF (and we might just get a non-VFL opponent as well, even if I fear Brisbane).

I know that either way we have to win 3 Finals to get the Flag, but losing to Collingwood makes the road harder and longer. Admittedly, we'd get Rankine back but he'd be underdone, as will Rachele.

My best mate's wife bet on the Crows for the Minor Premiership at the start of the year!! :D.
The payout was $460 but I dunno what the $-bet was --- 15th to FIRST had never been done before, so the odds would have been juicy.
Helluva gutsy bet, great get.

She coulda got another $100 out of me. I thought they were no chance at all:

That game was so embarrassing. Our side filled with senior, experienced players, their side filled with kids.

They've been saying on the News here that Hill had a hard block of training in past couple of weeks. Whilst no-one's definitively saying he's an in for them, I'd be very wary. He looked to be enjoying training when I saw the vision.
Hill wont be playing this week, I doubt he will get back in again this year.
Though it is good to see him back with a smile on his face and a ball in his hand.

Excellent, a few other good outs would be Elliott, N&J Daicos, Sidebum, Cameron, DeGoey and Crisp. Please arrange at your earliest convenience!

I don't understand how the game can be over capacity.

Surely there is a fixed # of tickets to sell?

Surely there is also a limit for safety and fire exits and people not being trampled and crushed and stuff?

Well how do you explain the ground capacity is 53,500 however there were 54,283 for the last Collingwood game. Remember there is standing room (in the stands) and probably explains the extra capacity.

If there was an emergency people would get crushed no matter what - but you could have people stream onto the ground.

I thought the 2017 preliminary final's record of 53,817 would be close to the ground's maximum in the current configuration (with modern safety standards). But the last Collingwood game squeezed in another 400 or so - 54,283.

The Hill looked completely packed. I stood behind the seats on the eastern ground level concourse and you could've fit a few more while still allowing people to get a restricted view.

I would be curious to know how many standing tickets they can sell under safety regulations.

The capacity will be reduced due to fox footy having their broadcast tent on the hill like they’ve had during the finals last year and gather round. I doubt the crowd will be higher than last match. I did hear on fiveaa a few weeks ago from the Adelaide oval CEO, the capacity of the ground is closer to 55,000 for Football matches.

Finals are different to regular season, in terms of capacity.

They can "oversell" tickets to a regular season game, but all tickets for finals are allocated. In the regular season there are Members (unallocated seating), outer general admission seating (top of Riverbank Stand), and GA standing members, as well as public sale GA standing. The AO can't tell who will rock up so they oversell and it can get full to the brim (e.g Round 23). However, in finals every seat is allocated one ticket, and there is a capped maximum of standing tickets they can sell.

The crowd on Thursday night will not be more than the one in Round 23.

Seating capacity is 53,500... plus standing room on the hill.

I’d always assume that they sell more than the official capacity on the assumption that there will always be a certain amount of people who don’t rock up.

I do kind of wonder how accurate that crowd figure was last game. It was jam packed, however, once the rain came it looked to me like 10-20% of the ground level bays were empty. If it was over capacity where did those people go?

Well the attendance figure is supposed to be how many people validated a ticket or pass - if some leave during the match, they still count. I doubt many people left the ground during that match, though. I saw quite a few people leave the bays and hang around where I was on the ground-level concourse under cover.

If H&A matches are oversold, technically there was a chance I would be turned away because GA access is subject to capacity. It would be a bit weird if the Adelaide Oval AFL attendance record remains a H&A game, but that's how it may stay given what others have said.
