Ohhh shit, Captain Lockthread doing his thing again, watch out Dan

Going over our mods heads Captain?
Chad using the structural violence of embedded systems to censor people he doesn't want to hear?

Shocked to be seeing that.

I've been watching the Sopranos again and there really is nothing that comes close to it. Not even Breaking Bad, which was fantastic in its own right. Seasons 1-4 of Dexter and House are my other favourites but the Sopranos is just untouchable. Tried to get into The Wire since that's the big one people compare it with but it just never clicked for me.
Breaking Bad is much better. Sopranos is good, but nothing happens.

BB also has Better Call Saul which is equally as brilliant.

Try Tulsa King, Mobland, Yellowstone and its side kicks 1926, 1873 or whatever it is. It's plenty good.

So if i are understanding correctly your main concern is that you dont want to have to field any questions from your daughter regarding something that might be a little left of field?

Where i lived there was one of our town folk that was pretty well known who used to wear dresses, infact his father was a grade teacher in our school and one of my dads best friends, his brother worked at the local sawmill and is harder than a cats head and came of a motorcycle more than a few times that he is probably regretting now being later in life who always looked out for him, he died not that long ago, probably everyone who lived in Warragul up until 10 years ago would know precisely who i are referring to, having lived in that town for 40 odd years i dont know of a single child who grew up with issues regarding said person.

Hell ( no pun intended) there were even a bunch of blokes from the Hope Farm religious group that came in on golf comp day and played in dresses! and this is a regional town rather than the city.

call it bigotry or whatever you like from my experience the chances your daughter will be traumatised from a story read by a bloke wearing a dress is pretty much non exitant. it would appear you on the otherhand have a harder time dealing with such things?

Why dont you just say to your child, "hey you know what, not everybody chooses to be and uniform as one another", she is far more likely to be traumatised if you were to insist she follow NMFC the way we are going!
A 4 year knows that mum wears dresses, puts on makeup, eye liner etc.....Dad wears pants, has a beard etc. So when the 2 collide simultaneously as one person it may cause confusion and questions. Kids at that age are very intuitive and curious and I don't want to have to explain why they saw what they saw and complexities that come with that.

I couldn't care less if that's bigoted/transphobic.

Things need to be as simple possible for a 4 year old.

And I'd like to think that the majority of parents will die on this hill.

Hot take: Breaking Bad is over-rated.

Better Call Saul was better.

Neither show is in my all-time top 5 though.

In no particular order;
  • The Wire
  • The West Wing
  • Simpsons (seasons 1-10)
  • Game of Thrones (season 1-6)
  • The Sopranos

The Simpsons were perfection from season 3 to 7.
Game of Thrones also great but those last 2 seasons it went off the rails so it's largely forgotten
I had a lot of fun with Lost but again the ending felt unsatisfactory

I remember being pissed about the Sopranos ending when it aired but now I think there was no better way to end it and love it. You know what happens once you see all the clues throughout the series.

They only 'know' that if you present it to them as the only 'normal' options.

What if you've married a woman who doesn't wear dresses? Does that make her less of a mum?

You're so close to starting to get why kids are taught there's more than one 'normal'. So close.

Some of Yellowstone was great ,other bits were terrible, suspect the style of writing was learned when Sheradon was working on sons of anarchy with regard to over the top unbelievable characters?

Taylor Sheridan went off the ****ing deep end with 'Landman'.

Good god, what an incredibly badly written show.

Wouldn’t call it a rant, but I don’t believe that people with ***** should be allowed in woman’s bathrooms.
As long as they are showering next to Chads daughters, what's the big deal?

lol, he'd turn into RoboCop pretty quickly in that scenario. And rightfully so.

Your brain is cooked.

Probably due to Taylor being in his infancy as a writer.

Feel like his later stuff is good.

gosh i know the 80 were great but they were nearly half a century ago! hope you still dont tell her cars have rotor buttons under the distributor caps and carburettors?

Nah I’ve had this discussion with him before, he’d be fine with it

What I'd be fine with is a trans woman being in a woman's bathroom.

I wouldn't want a trans man in a woman's bathroom.

Tell me, which one of these people do you think should be in a woman's bathroom?

Prior to my brain injury, at least. You're a cop mate, you're not exactly killing it lol

In yet another astounding example of your superior brain power, you've gotten it wrong again.

I am not, and have never been, a cop.

Many years ago, early 90s, there was this for tv survey/interview done in Melbourne on some tv show. Basically asking people what tv they watched.

They asked this guy who looked like a classic mid 80s wog (that sort of wog is an Australian thing btw, that sub culture doesn't exist in Italy,) permed mullet with shaved sides, three day growth, monobrow, adidas trackies with the pants tucked into his white socks, white leather runners... like a cliche. Western suburbs accent and probably a bit of a crim like everyone from that part of the world back then lol.

Looks at the camera with contempt and the contempt in his voice for everything the people interviewing him stood for was magnificent.

"I only watch the Simpsons. Everything else is an insult to my intelligence!"

And that is why I don't watch tv.

There's so much stuff to read about how the world works, new technology and science. New discoveries, old poems a world full of stuff that'll make you smarter and increase your appreciation for everything.
