Yeah, if it’s 900k that is way way overs.

I’d be fine with 800k max if we were desperate but clearly not.

Tells me he will announce the Saints as his preferred destination probably this week.

Silvagni hasn't played much footy over the past decade. A total of 120 games over 10 years gives you red flags in terms of his durability...

No way am I saying we should offer more. I said 800k max and I think 100k less than what the Saints are offering would still be enough to pull him in. We are Collingwood, enough said.
If he’s after the extra cash which clearly he is then that’s fine and good luck. We aren’t going above and beyond.
We’ll stick to contending for flags.

Looks like I am in the minority on the merret acquisition.

I would prefer we go to the draft and bring in young mids. Would like us to refrain from trading our first rounders for some time, the only exception is zac butters.

I think it all depends on where our first rounders sit. If it doesn't look like we'll fall off the cliff and it's a late first rounder, I'd much rather have Merrett for 3 years than a HDM/Allan that might never make it and even if they do, unlikely to provide A-grader service.

Trading our first this year for Houston was well worth it given that all the FA compo and academy bids is likely to push the pick to late 20s.

I wouldn't offer him $700k. If he was a more durable player, then l would look at the 8's. We know he can be a handy player, but his body continually lets him down...

Definitely in a couple of years after all these players have been paid only the scraps left over and Saints can't pay them what they're worth..then we can swoop in.
