2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Unfortunately for clubs atm, if he’s contracted and wants to leave it’s either to the club he wants to go to or he stays. Clubs don’t really have a say except refusing to trade him to the nominated club. AFL need to change this.
As I said, club says, you go where we get the best deal or you stay. They have a contract, they shouldn't have signed.

If we trade Marshall are there any forward/rucks who are decent enough to play the FF/CHF alongside or as a backup to King? I'd feel much more comfortable with that.

I'm thinking a Hayden McLean type - not a world beater by any stretch but is big and strong enough to do a job and probably take the main key defender from Sharman/Owens. Probably someone 25+ with AFL experience and size already.

Hammer could somewhat do it (although I think he is better as a back) and Keeler in a pinch (but I believe he is more of a mobile CHF than a pack crasher).

No more than a late 2nd or early 3rd and still means we get a first for Marshall.

Caminiti & Keeler should be enough imo

Dodson and even JSOS, who has played as a 2nd ruck before, the next layer down

Gettable
- TDk coming to the saints. Year 8 will be around $1m

- Butters - Twomey doesn’t think he is going

- Windhager, dogs Melbourne west coast now chasing. 4 year deal from us. Hasn’t signed yet. But believe he will - however MONEY will need to “get to the level”

- Wilkie, clubs still asking the question

- Zac Bailey - Essendon throwing massive contract at him

- JSoS, 5 year deal more than $4m - expect End of first round pick for Carlton

- Liam Ryan - Bound for st Kilda, 3 year deal + 1. “We don’t have a second round pick this year”

- Max Heath, All but a lock he gets to Melbourne (Twomey)

- Sam Draper - close to band 1 compo

- Rowan Marshall - think it simmers, right in the frame for Geelong BUT if the offer isn’t good enough we won’t deal

- Leek Aleer - JSOS won’t impact our chase for leek Aleer, won’t take much from a trade point of view - even pre season draft is an option (Twomey and Beveridge)

- Sam Flanders - saints are keen. First pick is in play.

Bombers preparing 1.3mx6 for Zac Bailey :O

mystery mid has been stated is a level above flanders
As I’ve said for sometime. Sam Walsh was the only mid I’d heard of that was gettable “at the level above” and it looks like he is staying.

Don’t buy Merrett for a second. All the others have re-signed.

Must keep Windy. Do whatever it takes to get his signature.

What is the story behind JSOS's injury woes?

Recurring injuries or lots of a unrelated issues?
Did a knee a couple of years ago.

Pretty sure he has had a few impact injuries across his time.

Interestingly that Sam McClure ( 🤮) called him Carlton’s most competitive player. That resonated well with me

Not the biggest fan of AI slop, but heres a compiled injury timeline for Jack Silvagni from 2019 onwards with chatgpt, most of the sources used are from carlton and afl official site so it seems mostly correct:
