The Dogs absolutely need someone like Young. Are they willing to pay for him though? If they don't get a good KPD their super talented list is probably not going to win anything. Sounds like we have the whip hand. We don't have anything to add in for their first. btu I guess a future pick/s could be used.

Hopper to Geelong. How can they pay (picks and $)? If he wants to try for a premiership good on him. If Geelong is willing to put up a first and we pay part of the salary - OK.

Sort of feels a bit like last year where Blair turned a decent hand into an expansion team draft. If he does it again we need to coat his statue in gold. (Gotta build the statue first though)

Where is the interest in Hopper coming from? Or are most people wanting him gone?

No, we don't need to cut more senior list players. That's not how it works. You are not taking into account list structure. Our current list structure is 36 senior list and 6 rookies. Under current AFL list structure rules, clubs can have -

36 senior 6 rookies
37 senior 5 rookies or
38 senior 4 rookies

At the moment, we have up to 4 senior list spots available if we choose a 38 / 4 structure.

Trading a top 5 BnF player for a late first round pick in a weak draft sounds insane.

He's too slow, especially off the mark and big turning circle. Need for speed these days.

Honestly I'm pretty impressed by some of our list decision making at the list level this year. We've been crying out for Colina to go for 2 seasons, Kozi hasn't been up to AFL standard, Blight doesn't have the speed to play above VFL, Bauer has had chances and just unfortunate with injury. Kmac doesn't have the legs or decision making left. All valid delistings.

There are delist and re-rookie opportunities if there aren't takers. We get to trial some players in the pre-season if we don't fill the list spots.

Hard to argue about Kosi not being an AFL footballer .... though he is playing the best football of his career right now ... The stand alone VFL teams will already be on the phone to Kosi ... he absolutely tore the VFL apart in the second half of the year ...

A lot of respect on how he led our VFL team ... I haven't seen anything like his 4 goal, 5 goal assist 27 possession, 8 clearance performance at Frankston last month ... ruck, forward, back he was doing it all

I doubt that. He's not going to get any quicker. But they do need a tall lock down, hence their interest in Young, so he may might get a gig. He is a very good mark so it's not like he's got nothing to offer.

Yeah, I was assuming we'd stay under the same structure. We seem to like having a rookie spot or two open where possible for an SSP/MSD pick. I like that approach too.

My guess is we will trade someone out and delist 2 of Dow, Sonsie and Smith with a chance of one or both being rookied

Agree but not taking Sam Davidson at last year's MSD when we had a spot after taking Blight and Gray was perplexing ... was only beaten for AFLs best young player award (by a 28yo lol)

Exactly, the way we're going about things with list changes is going to allow for the VFL & AFL sides to be structured up the same when it comes to selection as well as using the same game plan, which will aid the development of players in their roles as they should be the same regardless of where they play.

If we didn’t have Tarranto & Hopper this year we would have been absolutely smashed each week.

Except for all the games when we left them in the midfield and we got absolutely smashed.

They don't run fwd. They barely hit the scoreboard. They don't run back. They are slow and one trick ponies.

We actually function way better without at least one of them.
