Wouldve liked 2 of these four gone- Traded and or delisted.
Hopper
Prestia
Ross
Tarranto

Speed is the name of the game, and if you dont have speed you need elite ball use. These guys have neither.
A bit early for that. I'm with you but maybe not over summer. I'll keep Ross for another year, at least he can use it with some creativity.

We should of retired Prestia. Wouldn't mind if we traded 1 of Hopper or Taranto. But can see if we did that the midfield is a injury or 2 away from being real thin on depth if we bring noone in.

Broad, Lynch and Prestia all due to go next year.

But looking at the list build, there’s more balance to it.

Pick 2, Pick 3, Kellaway and Rosas(maybe) all due to come in with Seth Campbell moving onto the main list.

Doesn’t look like a lot else is planned.

Tyler Young is a very interesting proposition. Like to keep, but could we balance the list even more with a young midfielder for him?

I doubt that. He's not going to get any quicker. But they do need a tall lock down, hence their interest in Young, so he may might get a gig. He is a very good mark so it's not like he's got nothing to offer.
Blights slow as treacle but I think he’s an upgrade on Edwards and Brock. They are crud.

Except for all the games when we left them in the midfield and we got absolutely smashed.

They don't run fwd. They barely hit the scoreboard. They don't run back. They are slow and one trick ponies.

We actually function way better without at least one of them.
There is absolutely 0 evidence to back this up.

Also, taranto is hitting the scoreboard all the time. What games have you been watching?

Yes there is evidence. For example, average centre clearances per ball up for games later in the year. Hotton had 3 times the clearances per ball up.

Taranto averaged 0.73 goals per game in 2025. He kicked 15 in total. 3 of those were in a game when he played forward. So its 12 goals from 20 games playing as a mid.

Hopper just 6 goals from 23 games or about 0.27 per game.

So our two front line midfielders kicked a combined 18 goals for the year when playing in the midfield. We need about 45 to 50 combined from both.

We lack goal kicking midfielders and given they are on the most money and probably our most senior mids they need to be doing way more and running forward (and back).

Love what we have done so far. Open up list spots which creates flexibility for ND but also SSP over the summer.

I'd love the next moves to be
Dow- delist
Smith- delist
Young- trade

I have noticed that both Taranto and Hopper play better when the other is out of the side.

How good is Rowan Marshall? Was he All Australian squad last year? With Nank the wrong side of 30 maybe a Hopper for Marshall trade could be a win win?? He can play forward too ...

So who else was going to do the grunt work they did ?

For Christ sakes Jack Silvagni is going to be on the same money as those 2.

Let that sink in.

Give me one team that has 45 to 50 goals combined from their top two midfielders?

Richmond 2017 Martin-Cotchin combined for 54 goals from 50 combined matches. Martin of course was parked forward at times.

Bulldogs 2025 Bontempelli-Richards 43 from 41 combined matches.

Swans 2025 Warner-Heeney 57 from 46 combined matches.

Swans 2024 Warner-Heeney 69 from 49 combined matches.

The Swans pair obviously spend a fair bit of time forward.

A lot depends on how exactly the mids are used. But 45-50 is unrealistic for mids like Hopper and Taranto who spend a lot of their time defending.

If you look at from a mathematical point of view, you trade out Hopper or Taranto (not both) while they have value, and Prestia can be a battering ram for another year. Then in 2027 our young guns will be ready for their rotation.

Great idea. Until Prestia gets injured in R3 and retires.

Blight was worth keeping in my opinion. He’s worth a list spot in a really diluted comp and good back up when some of our our young defenders break down again….
