SOS, TDK, Aleer, Milera, King already equates to, 850 + 1700 + 750 + 2000K + 1000K = 6300K (6.3million), about a third of their cap next year on 5 players alone (including their banked amount which will end in 2027 as they'll definitely be paying full cap).

Liam Ryan expected to be on 600K, McCrae 700k, Hill 850K, Wilkie 800K, and if Marshall stays 900K so that's another 3.85 million.

10.15 million on their cap on 10 players. It's very much all in, as I expect they anticipate Milera will leave in 2 years time and then they might go on another spree but then not considering cap issues as some of their promising kids become better and require a boost.

I see them repeating their 2009-2010 era where their top 8-10 players are top-shelf but they fall away drastically with their bottom 6 being quite average and costing them full success. And that's if Ross' can adapt his game plan to modern footy to cover for that bottom 6 as the 2009-10 era was more conduscive to his playbook.

Then imagine if JSOS, TDK don't meet the salary expectations, King remains injury riddled, and heaven forbid Milera misses some games due to injury, it'll make the Voss headlines of this year pale in comparisons.

And already there is talk of them getting rid of their captain and other blue collared players to protect their cap which must do wonders for team unity.
Probably the only thing SOS was great at when he was here was managing the cap.

I’d suspect they’ve banked cap space by playing the minimum for some time.

if I was a supporter I’d be concerned they becoming St Carlton:
TDK
JSOS
Dow
Carroll
Stocker
Caminiti (VFL)

Wilkie and Marshall are both 30 - and no certainty to stay. Neither is Nas in 2 years. King perpetually injured. All that with a cooked salary cap. Good luck to them hanging around 8-12 on the ladder for the next 2 years
And Marshall's still better than TDK IMO.. I feel for Tommy, that's a massive contract to live up to.

Our Ins and Outs this offseason compared to the Saints is going to look GRIM. Not sure why we think they are the laughing stock and not us. We can barely even have a cheeky laugh at the bombers expense anymore.
This is an extremely short term view. I think once trade period, draft etc is done we'll look in a far better position, future wise.

The Saints might rise a few spots on the ladder but they won't threaten much IMO.

I just can’t see the club letting Charlie go..

If it was up to me, it’d be:

Sydney
Gulden + or piss off!

Gold Coast
Walter & Flanders or piss off!

Geelong
Piss Off!
GC - Walter, Flanders and a decent pick.

Flanders is almost fringe there, you don't pay much for that...

What the f.. happened between '24 and '25. Not played in his best position...

And Walter - very much a 20yo WIP....

Fiorini too or something to help with S1AW?

Dean cox commenting on the hypotheticals of trades and looking for the best players for their club...

Honestly, if Charlie has asked for an out, let's let him go while he has value. Why have someone there who is earning big bucks and who doesn't want to be there? Let him go.

I hope this line of thinking isn’t what our list management team is thinking.

I agree. I'm actually excited about a mini reset. If Charlie doesn't want to be here.. See ya.
we have some super exciting kids coming over the next bit, our youth has potential, new coaching group (hopefully a few more changes to come) and we are in a different position. We just need Crazy Vossy to understand that multiple game plans is a good thing....

Should still be contingent on getting a great deal for him. We've seen numerous players stick around after requesting trades. Papley a prime example.

Reckon Charlie's pretty simple, don't think he'd be that hard to appease.

A 3 team trade to pry someone loose from another team would be my preference.

It does feel like we lose free agents, then cut loose the likes of Elijah and Gov, and replace them with C graders with potential, and call it a day.

We like holding on to our core, putting role players around them, and hoping we place the right staff around them to get some drive and motivation.

We did talk a big game in terms of big moves though, so hopefully we have something up our sleeve.

With just over a month left until Trade Period begins, I imagine Graham, Chris and the List team will be working overtime to improve the team with a focus of getting in players who a) want to be here, and b) will help make us a better side overall (fill needs, not just be available).

I’m sure the club would be in agreement, but they are not going to publicly say we are open to trading him.

Understand, I don't post and like to read from afar. However, from an ex-Adelaide Crows champion, Elijah - Sholl trade.

I saw that floated. Bickley wasn't it? It was spitballing, not actually based on any info.

Yes because of the cba.

Austin had his pockets picked.
Please remind me, when this year TDK's output was worth 78K per game (if played every game). Paying JSOS an extra 200K may have been less of a gamble, but saying he didn't feel loved when he had an offer tabled before many other out of contract players were indicates we were committed to signing him (whilst still juggling coach decisions and transitions). If JSOS really wanted to stay he probably could've haggled us to up our offer a bit more and we may have obliged.

The picks from the FA compensation land us in a very good position to have a go at Butters now.

2x firsts this yr, with potentially more depending on what happens with Curnow (I don't believe the "no chance he's moving" crowd. Not saying he's gone, but just that the door isn't locked up), means we actually can have a real crack. Particularly if SOS gets us band 1, not band 2.
