Thilthorpe was far more awful than I expected
It was such a bizarre game from him. So many times he pulled out of contests, simply didn’t go when he needed to and there was one time where he just stopped and turned his back on the ball thinking it was dead… and it wasn’t. Hopefully he’s better for the experience but jeez, his performance was a real head scratcher.

Really poor night from the coaches.
Selected too many half back flankers so had no way to change the game.
Threw Max into a position he’s played once for half a game.
Let Collingwood do everything they wanted. Took nothing away from them.
Last quarter we need goals so we push everyone into back half, leave two Collingwood players free in our F50 and we wonder why we can’t kick a goal. Insane and stupid. A special combination.

I said at the start of the season, we have a top 4 list with a bottom 4 coach - but individual brilliance will win us games we should've lost.

Today just confirmed that, again.

If we had McRae as coach, we'd be almost unbeatable.

Our midfield has been thin all year - we have done nothing to address it, and when it matters, we won't be able to.

We also have a number of flat track bullies.

I hope tonight doesn't destroy his confidence. As much as I don't want to pick on individuals (90% of the team were awful), he cost us two goals that changed momentum. The turnover changed the game and then had the chance to make up for it in the last.
Yes agreed, he normally plays well in big games, so hopefully tonight was just a one off and he is back to his normal self next week.

I did not expect Pedlar to stand up, but he did. Neal-Bullen did his job, and almost covered the slack for other absent players.

I also think it's weird people are singling out Thilthorpe. His game was poor, but I thought he was at least attempting to fix it. Which is more that can be said for many others.

Lastly. A month ago I said Chris Burgess had a "bad game, but not as bad as many said it was". Similarly paradoxically tonight: Mason Cox played terribly*, but simultaneously Adelaide had no answer for him. The Adelaide defence was torn apart in the third quarter by the opposition strategy of kicking it to a target and having him drop chest marks.

*additional note: I say "terribly" here, but his stats were objectively superior to a third of the Adelaide side.

Thorpe is such a weapon they changed their team structure and selection to deal with him.

We did nothing to combat it.

Comprehensively and brutally outcoached.

Collingwood choked up our forward line and we just kept bombing it in, absolutely stupidity.

Milera flat track bully again.

Hinge didn't do anything.

Our defense battled well, again, but were hung out to dry by the midfield.

No Rankine hurt us severely.

Key moments went against us - ANB toe poke was clearly a goal, Houston blatant throw missed. Smith bombing it blindly into the forward line.

We played like shit, barely a winner on the field.

Need Rash back ASAP.

ROB was good to get his contract, been progressively worse every week, was absolute shit tonight.

Keays, know your ****ing limitations, you kill us when you don't.
ANB toe poke wasn't even close to a goal.

He missed it completely. Yes it came off underneath the knee initially, but it then ricocheted off framptons back.

Houston's throw was very obvious though, almost as obvious as Keays 3 weeks ago.

Ohwell, least ur in the finals.

Peatling has been so good all year and he decides to stink it up tonight. Give him a mulligan for tonight but if he gets done again next week you have to question his ability in big finals games.
He hasn’t been good all year. None of our mids have been good all year. Even Dawson, despite all the aa captain and Brownlow talk, has not been good all year. None of our mids has been good all year. We don’t have any really good mids. Daicos, Bont, Anderson, Heeney. Those are good mids.

If you told me 6 months ago we would be minor premiers and lose the first final. I still wouldve given my left nut. Lol.

Stay positive people. Our boys just had a taste of finals and we will be better for it in the long run.
Exactly, I predicted and hoped for a final. To finish where we did was mind bollgling, yet some here shit the bed because we had a bad game. We do need to recruit a top midfielder though.

Clearance issues have a lot to do with our ruckman, who has been ordinary since Port game - wasn’t fantastic in that either - how was the header to Collingwood advantage that cost a goal…..

Oppo rucks just run over the line engage and he is lost…….our mids barely get first use, then when he does get first hand on it, it is so predictable that oppo mids rove it better than our mob.
He played half a dozen good games to secure a new contract, and he's back to being shit again - like most of the last 5 years.

I don't really rate Draper, but he'd still be a massive upgrade.

And we need a gun midfielder, get Oliver.

Hoping thst was the loss we needed to have.

Zero composure, fumble everything, shit unnecessary handballs to the ankles of teammates out of position, hack kicks straight down the throat of the opposition.

Hope they've got that out if their system now (horrible suspicion they haven't though).

Strewth now I've heard it all now.

Yeah, the defense mostly held up (Worrell and Keane can hold their head high, once again), but the lack of midfield ball-winning and terrible efficiency going forward killed us
So can Hugh Bond he was very good given his very limited exposure to the top level especially his composure, decision making and disposal was way way better than a lot of our far more experienced players. His hard work on his kicking over the pre0season is very noticeable now.

Good

A lifetime of supporting the Crows has left me immunised against disappointment.

At least we didn't lose by less than a goal due to a controversial umpiring decision in the dying stages.

The certainty that we'll get umpire assisted wins over the next two weeks as the AFL sets up a Rankine vs Collingwood Grand Final. Just kidding, a lifetime of supporting the Crows has also left me unable to feel optimism.

Bad

How To Lose A Game in Like Half of a Third Quarter, Starring the Adelaide Football Club.

Midfield? What is that? They're meant to touch the ball, you say? Kick it to our forwards, not Darcy Moore? Best I can do is Rory Laird, I'm afraid.

Comprehensively outplayed and outcoached.

"Bond did such a good job on Elliot last time. Let's use Michalanney forward. We am very clever. This will not backfire in any way."

2005 and 2012 vibes. Except for the fact that we might not even get the dignity of struggling to an away prelim.

Ball in hand, he was very good

Elliott got off the chain though, Max really should’ve been the matchup on him
