Edwards is exactly the midfielder we need. Big bodied, bursts away from the stoppage with speed and a long kick. Wasting his talent down back. Draper will also help once he puts on more size.

One error from tonight we can fix is by giving Rachele a 30 minute run around with the SANFL team this weekend.

Should have done it with Max last weekend. He was super rusty after his lengthy lay-off. Needed a bit of a cobweb blow out.

easy in hindsight. But it's super weird we went in with so many defenders.

Smith and laird have largely been interchangeable, but both played.

Bond came in when Michaelanney went out, but both played.

We then end up subbing hinge for smith.

Laird goes in to the midfield.

For an "attacking" team it seem a very weird time to go defensive.

Our midfield rotations were ****en awful and putting laird through there was fine but not really what we want when he was omitted previously as a midfielder.

I get that Rachele and Rankine are injured and that removes those options being available for centre rotations. But the selections and options we chose ****en stink.

I don't really know what the changes need to be. But address that mess.

You play rankine no doubt about it blokes a match winner. He’d be fit it’s not like he can’t run or train due to an injury

Absolutely kissed on the dick to be selected because we have nobody worthy of selection to replace them:
Peatling, Cumming, Hinge

It wouldn’t surprise me if Nicks finds a way to keep Bond in over Hinge. Going into our shells and being ultra-defensive works so well you see.


If Michalanney starts up forward again, I’m turning it off.

I don’t expect Murray to be dropped for Butts, but he should be. Butts is clearly the superior player at this stage. Murray has little to no feel for the game.

The fact that we can’t even drop anyone from that disgrace of a midfield because there are no replacements other than Dowling (who wouldn’t be played as a mid in the AFL team because he’s basically never done it before) who should even be on an AFL list is the reason why we are likely going out in straight sets.

Not to mention the fact that before even thinking about dropping a mid, we have to drop a defender and replace THEM with Rachele to allow Michalanney to even play in the defensive 50 because of the completely botched selection mix against the Pies.

would really want to come out swinging next week. He is by far the most overpaid player at the club, was absolutely pathetic tonight, and does not regularly exert an effort level that I would describe as acceptable.

It will be his first ever AFL Final, 5 or so weeks no game plus the media crap he has gone through.

It's a big risk.


Anyway, I guess I am the outlier here.

Hinge was bad but I think first and foremost we need to immediately revert to our standard defensive structure which is Michalanney in, Bond out.

Our structure was totally rattled

Yes the 9 defenders and playing max out of position but more so the final mid rotation

We do t know who to replace rankine with in our mids.

Draper did it against North and failed and dropped. That uncertainty seemed to flow on to all the structural/selection issues

So yes we need to drop a defender

But I think selection starts with working out who do we want to take that midfield rotation and work from there

I said weeks ago that Butts should be playing instead of Murray, that Murray is too kamikaze and doesn't actually know what he's doing, and got howled down for it. He looked dead set clueless out there tonight. Keane and Worrell had to work overtime.

We should be trying to win it not hoping the lesser players picked instead can somehow improve.
