Yeah next year we'll get to witness the Crows celebrating the triumphant return of Izak Rankine to their starting line up. You know, the same way most teams celebrate the return of a player from a long term injury, just with absolutely no thought as to why he was actually out of the line up in the first place.

Although I suppose that isn't as bad as seeing it during the week leading up to a Grand Final.

Footy is one of the last segments of society where it's okay (and encouraged) to express tribalism and fervour and hate for the other side without being judged as an idiot. Isaac Quaynor is part of the 'other' - a legitimate target for jeers and insults hurled from the other side of the boundary line. And he's therefore an acceptable target because he dobbed in their tribe member.

People boo because they want to be part of the tribe, so until the tribe (ie majority of Adelaide fans, and the club and staff and players themselves) tell them to stop booing Quaynor, this will continue. And even then, there will always be a segment that are anti-authoritarian and say "f*** off, you can't tell me what I can and can't do" and boo regardless.

And the cycle will continue.
