The reason Collingwood won was the coldly and ruthlessly exposed the crows weaknesses.
That’s what good, experienced teams do in finals.

The crows had a shallow midfield, no decent small forwards and panicky, nervous players throughout their side (even their stars). On the other hand Pendles, Sidebottom, Daicos x2 Moore and Degoey had almost their best games of the season. Calm and experienced.

The question for freo is - what are the GC suns weaknesses? And how to we as a team expose them from the first minute tomorrow night?
That’s the challenge for the players AND the coaching staff
GC weakness is there is too big of a gap between their best and worst players. Forward line relies heavily on King, backline on Collins, midfield on Rowell and Anderson.
They finished 7th because the best teams were able to shut down their gun players.

I think the wet weather is a big advantage to Freo. GC seemed to play best in dry conditions whereas Freo are 5 0 in the wet this year (crazy!).

Pearce repeating his effort from dogs against King this week would make it nearly impossible for them to kick a winning score.

I would have been tempted to roll the dice on Walker as a defensive forward. He's fast & strong and could take Rioli to the cleaners and who knows what he would do with the ball in hand in the forward half.

I really like that actually. But not surprised they didn’t want to roll the dice with Walker not playing all year.

The Dudley concern really isn't that big of a deal.

Us picking Dudley over another depth player isn't going to be the difference between us winning and losing, that's silly.

It could be the difference, when Dudley is on he kicks goals out of nowhere from half a step. Hopefully he rises to the occasion. It will go a long way for his career to have a big final.

I'd love to see it, but I think regardless, if it wasn't Dudley it would just be someone else kicking them instead.

what? Dudley is 168cm and a bit overweight for a professional AFL player. There is only one reason he is playing AFL - making goals happen from nowhere surrounded by blokes 6-12 inches taller and faster, or setting someone up with his talented hands and feet for them to do it. If anyone could do what he does, he wouldn't be on the team.

Don't minimise the Wombat

Fair call, I agree with you. I'm just saying regardless of who we have coming in, we should still win.

Hase seemed pretty worried about it on SEN. Seemed baffled that Johnson wasn't selected.

I just worry about our bottom 6 - Dudley, Noddy, Banfield, Young (underdone), Fyfe (overdone), Freddy (impact).

Need everyone to have a big game.

How does our 4th highest goal scorer this year end up in the bottom 6?

In games Freo has lost this season Frederick averages 0.6 goals per game (4 total goals from 7 loses, half against Geelong).
In games Freo has won this season Frederick averages 1.6 goals per game (26 total goals from 16 wins)

If sides keep Frederick quiet it's a blanket over us enough to make a difference.

The only games Freo won but Frederick didn't score: Kangaroos, Saints, Pies, Blues.

All quite close games, largest margin was the Blues and that was all scoring 44 points in the 4th quarter to take the lead and win.

Frederick up and about is Freo up and about.

No other players in the reserves have been playing in the forward line, Dudley the only player who doesn't change our structure.
Moving Banfield, who has played fwd the vast majority of his career, fwd and bringing Cooper Simpson (or Walker), a defender, into defence is not a change to our structure. But not use in crying over spilt milk. Hopefully Duds goes well and doesn't burn out by the second qtr again.

seems quite an important player then. Possibly not bottom 6?
