Reminds me of what happened to a certain indigenous player when he called out a racist remark.I can understand you want to water down the situation, but you are wrong it was the loudest booing of the night whenever Quaynor was in possession of the ball. Mass booing a guy for calling out a homophobic slur![]()
Without question - those same persons fiercely guard their rights to behave like monkeys in a zoo.The mass condemning of the booing in the media has a massive chance to back fire. They've learned nothing in regards of trying to direct the crowd on what they can and cannot boo.

AFL, Media all let him down.I think not tbh given the Adam Goodes experience. The usual commentators had a field day with him, I cite it as a classic example of racism being given legitimacy because he pointed at the wrong people, said the wrong things in a speech and didn't keep his views to himself. Plenty of West Coast fans were happily booing and saying it was because he took out a player in a game two years before, even when Goodes and others asked people to stop.
And sections of the crow supporter base have also expressed their anger at the behaviour. Not just the booing but homophobic slurs as well. And they're not happy with the way John Olsen and the crows management have handled it.![]()

Correction. He did not call out the homophonic slur. He was guilty in the eyes of fans for being the subject of the slur.I can understand you want to water down the situation, but you are wrong it was the loudest booing of the night whenever Quaynor was in possession of the ball. That makes it even more aberrant and warped.Correction. He did not call out the homophonic slur. He was guilty in the eyes of fans for being the subject of the slur.

The difference this time, the big difference, is that it's not AFL House, or club officials or politicians calling out the boorish behaviour. The mass condemning of the booing in the media has a massive chance to back fire. They've learned nothing in regards of trying to direct the crowd on what they can and cannot boo.
I'm saying the Crows supporters who booed Quaynor was because they think he also targeted Rankine with saying what Houston did to Rankine last year, that's why Houston was also booed and I heard it was multiple Collingwood players who did this.
I am implying that Quaynor who is not gay and was not offended by the comments and moved on, yet other Collingwood players actively chose to make it an issue and by doing so gained a significant advantage in a final. You can draw your own conclusion what the motivation to do so was.
Copium overdose.I'm saying the Crows supporters who booed Quaynor was because they think he also targeted Rankine with saying what Houston did to Rankine last year, that's why Houston was also booed and I heard it was multiple Collingwood players who did this.
Footy culture is toxic. I've given up on Facebook because of the level of toxicity. Rioli has copped so much abuse online over his troubled season. The comment sections are horrendous and Meta should really be doing more about it. In my opinion there's a lot of deflection going on because people doing it don't have their lives in order so they have to attack athletes to feel better. So you just read the extreme sides of the argument and assumed that represented all of our thoughts? Why is the internet incapable of nuance? Clearly we weren’t all booing, but sure, paint us with the same brush if it helps you.
There will always be sections of every supporter base across any sport in the world that boo for a multitude of reasons, good luck stopping it. I find booing pointless, but in a crowd of 50000 I’m sure you’ll always have a small minority that think it’s their right to boo if they’ve paid for a ticket. Some people were booing Frampton, it’s never rational.
So you think they booed Quaynor because he is gay???? Just like Collingwood supporters booed Goodes because of his race or because he was a very good player and others were booing him.Copium overdose.
Start a thread on themControversy is clearly encouraged in all things that create ratings and $$$$$$$
This is no different
Or am I mistaken that the moral compass of all those in charge is super diligent
I notice that a lot of the vocal people on social media are +50Yeah, many booed Goodes, with no idea why they were doing it other than to be part of the mob behaviour.
Then, when challenged as to why they were booing, they desperately scrambled for reasons - anything really - to justify why they were doing it.
It was truly a shameful episode. There were a lot of morons following our game back then, and it seems there are still plenty doing so to this day sadly.
I think it's 100% clear in this particular case.So you think they booed Quaynor because he is gay???? Just like Collingwood supporters booed Goodes because of his race or because he was a very good player and others were booing him.
You never answered my question. So you think they booed Quaynor because he is gay???? Just like Collingwood supporters booed Goodes because of his race or because he was a very good player and others were booing him.
I feel like in my life 2008-2013 was about the point in which these matters started being taken more seriously. In my workplace the F word was used regularly nearly every day prior to 2008. Within that space people acknowledged that it wasn't a part of society. At the end of the day letting players get away with this sort of behaviour will only hamper players who are gay from coming out, and statistically there will be plenty in the competition currently who are, do we really want to create an environment where they don't feel comfortable being who they are?
Good people don't use homophobic slurs, it's that simple. There are so many other words that can be used, it's very easy not to jump to a word that has negative connotations to an entire community.
It's not about "championing external causes" it's called being a good person and not being a dickhead.
Because someone known on X for posting BS said it was Quaynor who had painted finger nails was subject to the F word??? I heard it wasn't even Quaynor who the F word was directed at and he didn't have painted finger nails. You never answered my question.
Why did the media pinpoint Quaynor's behaviour after the last match?
Personally, I'd be happy for people to get called out for slurs in the crowd on social media particularly to set an example of how Not to behave while at a game. The mass condemning of the booing in the media has a massive chance to back fire. They've learned nothing in regards of trying to direct the crowd on what they can and cannot boo.
When did this happen? It was a 13yo Collingwood supporter that yelled a racist slur over the fence at Goodes, but when did Collingwood supporters boo Goodes? It certainly wasn't at the game where the slur occurred because no one knew what had happened at the game.So you think they booed Quaynor because he is gay???? Just like Collingwood supporters booed Goodes because of his race or because he was a very good player and others were booing him.

Booing will never be bannedI agree with calling out offensive language. But booing surely can't be banned (probably will be soon, same as no more tackles or bumps!!).
