FWIW, I do really love the effort you put into the Son Son picture research, but geez I didn't need to see Stuey Dew's guts.

Also I worry about our ability to defend the trick play where the Suns pysch us out by playing keepies off for 15 minutes and then go all out attack in the last 10 of each quarter.

FWIW, we've never had a quarter against GC that ranks in any of our top 20 scoring quarters. Ever.
Which makes Gold Coast the only side we haven't ever beat up on in at least a quarter offensively. Every other side in the AFL has copped at least one quarter of offensive flogging from Freo over the last 30 years. But we can't seem to do it against GC, even when they were kids and had McKenna as coach.

Now they have a good midfield, it is even less likely to be a big margin quarter day. Tight and close all game? Gee I hope we finally get a decent scoring effort early against them...

Surprising but correct. Our biggest win against Gold Coast is 50 points in their inaugural season. Half of our wins against GC were by 20 points or less. Pretty crazy considering our best years (2012-2015) coincided with their worst. Comparatively we had 8 wins ranging from 61 to 113 points against GWS and Melbourne during that time period.

Goes without saying this should be a tight contest and a war of attrition as most finals are, but a lot of our wins this season have been. Bulldogs have the #1 midfield and we held our own until Bont went crazy in the 4th. With the talent of the two midfields both teams will get plenty of looks and it’ll be a matter of who capitalises.

What happened at the MCG last night, with the bewildering umpiring in the second quarter, might help to shine some light on the atrocious standard of umpiring in some games.
I hope the umpiring is as good in this game as it was vs the Bulldogs in round 24. They let things flow but got most of it right (from what I recall)

The wind will be coming from the SW all day.

35 km/h winds now, peaking at 40 km/h by 2pm. Should drop to 25 km/h by bouncedown.

Temp 10-12'C, but the wind and high humidity will make it feel cooler.

Maybe the odd shower if we're unlucky.
