So officially requesting games isn’t enough. We have to become the AFL and give those games to us.

It’s why other clubs aren’t actually asking anyone to look into Geelong. They’re just saying they’re asking people to look into Geelong.

It's about $ if the AFL can make more money, they are going to do that.

I would actually prefer Geelong to play at GMHBA as, I think them playing at MCG helps them more.

We've certainly played worse at GMHBA than the mcg last couple of years

No, just require the AFL to agree to 11 GFC home games as a requirement for the KP redevelopment.

Fed and state government money was trying to buy votes in Geelong, so they would have backed it (they'd get extra credit for the same money, so would have been thrilled). Geelong council would have backed it. If GFC had been strong on it, the AFL would have said yes. (I assume that was all the funding sources...I CBF checking)

But instead Geelong somehow neglected to add that clause to the contract....Even though similar clauses have been in ever major stadium redevelopment in the country for decades.

As I said at the start, they're either majorly incompetent, or...They don't want it, but know a lot of fans do, so they make empty noises about it.

Great performance by Geelong playing a home game at a neutral venue for both teams.

It’s incredible what they’ve been able to achieve without ever getting to play any finals at their home ground.

Gameplan since 2022 has suited the MCG way more than the narrow and longer Kardinia Park. Unreal running power with more space & less slower contested blokes who thrive at KP.

I've read elsewhere that Swans don't want Giants playing SCG. Not sure how accurate that is

Ironically the Cats current game style suits the MCG better than Kardinia Park.

If Geelong must have a home final at the MCG make it actually feel like a home final with restrictions on the number of opposition supporters or some accommodation like that. 70/30 or something.

Up to the Cats to fill their allotted numbers by a certain time, after that, opposition club has access.

I think Scott figured this out and started shifting things around 2019 or 2020, but obviously you need years of drafting, development and outside recruiting to be able to shift your game style in such a way. Look at the running power, pace and skill sets of players brought in over the past 5 or 6 years. By 2022 they could really shift the gameplan and we have in effect been an MCG team from that point on.

Oh please this is dumb. Finals are played at the mcg to raise more money for the afl.
