Hawks fans are going to be absolutely insufferable now. It's like they're blind to the umps as well, too used to it at this point

Well a good comeback, ran out of legs in the end, but just like last year, the final/s showed all the exact same issues as throughout the year (never playing a full 4 quarters). Kingsley was getting slammed on fox for the game style, but edging backwards each year since the end of 23, he's gotta change something up next year, most noticeably some personnel and strengthening a shallow midfield.

The backline really misses Buckley because when aleer comes in, it's like having two himmelberg's back there. Coniglio is cooked. Kelly was superb in the third and poor in the last. Ash was superb, brown poor, Callaghan amazing as usual and Tom green also pretty good. Too many guys that had an off day though and a lack of chemistry from returning players. Hawks were always a tough proposition they're top 4 quality the back end of the year, the 4 goals from frees in the first quarter helped. Just posting every thought that pops into my head, high on disappointment.

So where to now for this side?

The stars on big pay packets like Greene, Conglio, Kelly and Whitfield are now all the wrong side of 30. Taking up so much cap space it makes it hard to attract players

Key forward Hogan, granted hampered by injury this year, has looked ordinary compared to last year. Will he get back to anything lile his best in 26? Young forward Cadmam still has big question marks on his development. Stringer I would say thanks but its not working.

Backs still looking good but need to let go of Alleer. Just too many mistakes for this level.

Massive negative if Darcy doesn't play in 2026.

To be honest its hard to see a premiership coming from this group.

Theres a reason we have gone out early in Sept last two years. Just not enough depth.

The Greene miss was the momentum killer.

However we were shite except the third quarter.

Too upset to write a considered post. I've been a consistent critic of our midfield this season BUT it wasn't them, it was our forwards. No sync, selfish and uncomposed. Returning from injuries cruelled our chance.

Another factor is the Hawks Pressure. They are elite and choked us again. They were my early favourite for the flag. Rather them than the pies.

It's easy to blame the umps but we didn't help ourselves.

Whilst I love Kingsley, and thrilled he got us to finals in all 3 years of his tenure as our coach, his overall finals record is 2 wins - 4 losses. The 4 consecutive finals loses is an unfortunate club record. In the finals, we are playing quality competition that ruthlessly punish us for inconsistency, errors and lack of focus.

It's getting to the point where I question how helpful being in finals is.

Surely it's becoming a negative among our players because I can't see it being a positive. The fanbase is apprehensive so I'd imagine our players are the same
