To keep people 'Happy'

For a 321 for winning side only in spirit of the MVP being for the best team.
In what world would that 'keep people happy'?

I'd be happy if your system simply found the best players on the ground.

It just shows there is absolutely no substitute for the eye test (and stats should ONLY be used to validate that).

Here were RT's stats other than the basic metrics that have been pointed out.

View attachment 2418663
He had 3 score involvements and 1 mark inside 50, they are pretty ordinary "stats" for a key forward.

Who cares that he went in the ruck and had a few contested possessions?

If Adelaide were going to win they needed RT to monster Frampton up forward, he wasn't able to.

You have just created your own dream team scoring system - kicks = 3, contested mark = 5, tackle =2, a clanger =-5.

May as well just use Supercoach scores and give top 5 Supercoach scores your coaches votes.

I think you're overlooking the amazing goal he kicked courtesy of an incorrect free kick call from the umpire and subsequent 50.

I'm sure that is awarded massive Supercoach points - an individual goal from a centre clearance....

Riley Thilthorpe also shirked responsibility with the Crows best chance to get back into the game in the last quarter, passing the ball when he was 20 metres out directly in front to bring it back to a 2 goal margin, completely scared of the moment.

Agree to disagree, as was fine with the free being paid (soft) but meh.

Cox was stupid to not give the ball back, and so again no drama with the 50.

That play probably gave RT 20% of his "ranking" points, and all he did was fumble the ball and get a soft free...but stats.

According to stats that was probably a ground ball get and effective disposal inside F50 - so another +15 to RT.

It would actually be interesting to learn how many points these plays did contribute to RT's ranking.

JHF1870?

It might help you with your algorithm.

No its not like that at all. I dont give **** all for a cheap disposal

I'm the first to acknowledge when one player on the losing team is carrying the load, and indeed they can be the best player on the ground despite their team losing comfortably.

Thursday night was NOT one of those games.

Asked anyone who actually watched the game the same question and you'll get the same answer.

The fact you're using stats to question whether Daicos was better than Thilthorpe says it all....
Daicos was far from your best.

Meanwhile, Daicos' first pass on the left to Elliott (I think it was) finished just outside the forward 50, so it didn't include a f50 entry.

And his goal a little later was elementary because he was only 25 metres out from goal....

You said you don't watch the games.

So obviously just use the end stat line and then run your buffer over it to get your rankings.

What would a contested possession, centre clearance, inside 50, effective kick inside 50 and goal would be worth to your "rankings"?

Daicos was far from your best.
You're one of the few to say that.

You have said you didn't actually watch the game, didn't you?

(Moore was our best, and De Goey and Daicos were the next 2, in either order. The commentators on Thursday night were suggesting Daicos was indeed our second best, given the unbelievable things he was doing with the football. But you don't appreciate that by looking at FooTyWiRe StAtZ).

At least Darcy Moore snuck into the top 5 players on the ground on Thursday night according to this thread's rankings...

That is 'something', I guess....

JHF1870 - Feel free to check out The First Crack - they've showed some vision of what Daicos was doing with the ball on Thursday night.

No mention of Thilthorpe's 20 point play where he won a centre clearance, had a forward 50 entry, and kicked a goal... all in a single play.

Daicos was far from your best.
I had him fifth best on ground. Could throw a blanket over ten Collingwood players and Pedlar in that mix though.

(noting below is Pies only for our board B&F)
5 Quaynor
4 Moore
3 Frampton
2 JDG
1 Naicos

Apologies Pendlebury, Elliott, Long, Cameron, Maynard, Schultz, Sidebottom

Anyone suggesting Thilthorpe was close to anyone in this group is having an absolute lend of themselves though. I thought Walker was clearly better than Thilthorpe.

There is no way on the planet Frampton was better than Daicos, unless we're voting in an under 12's best and fairest, and thinking 'Daicos didn't have his usual 30 plus, whilst Billy was very good for Billy's standards'.

Moore was also a clear BOG.

If you're watching the game without the bias of knowing the level of every player on the ground, I reckon most would go:
1. Moore
2. N. Daicos
Then throw a blanket over the next handful.

For top 10 midfielders, the 2 strongest performers of the weekend (Serong and Callaghan) are eliminated. Being in one of the best performing finals teams is still key. Much like Bont being BOG in his pre-EF against Freo. Teammates let him down.

Think it has to be from winning team overall. Serong was BOG by a mile but also cant have someone from Adelaide getting more votes with more games. Thats why i adjusted for Collingwood players.

Holmes a good chance

Adelaide Vs Hawthorn

3. Jai Newcombe
2. Jack Gunston
1. Lloyd Meek
