2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

He’s been ok, he has some things to like. I still can’t see where he fits into our side but as a cordy replacement it’s fair enough.

It’s down to do we still need him and how much will it cost us.
The fact Ross went up to watch him suggests we still have reservations. Unless Ross went up there to do some convincing.

Finey is more a club mouthpiece if anything. Not a player one.

How much do you think O’Connor or Mullin are paid?

That’s why they are performing tagging roles.

Not for the 800+k on the table windy sounds like he is taking.
Windy is a better player than those blokes. Gets it done both ways. Easy decision if we're talking a difference of 50k. Would be very counterintuitive if we're paying JSOS and not Windy. Makes no sense.

I would love to keep Windy but he is not an $800k player. Due to the roles he plays he could be on of the last 4 picked in the best 22 next year. If he doesn’t continue to improve we could be paying $800k+ for a bloke playing at Sandy and you all will be here criticising the club for this contact.

If this is the line the club is taking I’d imagine it has been a tough decision that has had a lot of thought put into it.

Losing Windhager is not the end of the world.

We are not getting a first for Windhager. We can park that chat. Uncontracted role player will get us a second rounder.
If Cmac or Flanders costs us a first. So does Windy in return.

All for the same reason right now.

Looks let’s park the 50k chat. That’s not confirmed.

What I think is doing Windy in to an extent, is that I think they look at Boxshall and see everything they get from Windy in a better athlete, slightly taller andwho they might even think has a bigger ceiling.

He seemed to have Dear checked. Still think he was the least of GWS troubles today, he just looked raw af.
Who were GWS missing in the backline today, because if he is a first back in a top eight team, what is the club seeing that we aren't?
Or has JSOS thrown a curve ball?
GWS were missing Jack Buckley, seen as one of the better key-defenders in the league.

Not a free agent.

Doesn’t get to Melbourne without a trade. It’s the Nas situation all over again.

We are protected by the need a trade has to occur.
All teams below us have shown interest in him. If he's incensed enough I wouldn't be surprised if he walked to PSD

So if he wanted to go to Melbourne he would risk going to west coast?
If the offer is good enough and the midfield time is available?

West Coast are rubbish on field right now but theyve got their shit together off it. 7 wins in past three seasons and they still get 45k fans to games.

I don't think it's as big a turn off to players as what others might.

Also the longer it is before Twomey, Cleary, Edmund or Morris tweet about Windy the more convinced I am it's not entirely accurate.

You'd imagine they'd hit the phones today on it.

You have said yourself he will never be an A grader and spent the last few pages pointing out his flaws, now you think we must get a first round pick for him if he leaves?
Same reason people in here think Cmac isn’t that good or Flanders.

They still charge a premium for potential.

Same reason you argued Windhager might become an A grader. Potential

Disgusting word in sport.

Interestingly that the only meaningful CBAs from Windy from rounds 16 onwards was when he tagged Pickett and Callaghan.

Similar theme earlier in the year. When not tagging. Wasn’t seen as a centre square mid. 🤔
By the same intent and purpose, do you have the CBAs this year for Flanders and McKenzie?

Wouldn't think he's looking at going interstate

But he isn’t asking to go to west coast. He has chosen Melbourne if we believe Finey.

Same link mate.

For the record. I call Cmac another Max Hall.

And I posed the question in this thread that I have no idea what’s happened to Flanders. I want him. But he has half the disposals this year compared to last. So would be keen to see what his CBAs looked like in 2024
