I look forward to seeing the same passion from you on the Collingwood board when your supporters boo Rankine next time we play you guys.
I dont agree with booing at all. Even when it's directed at homophobes and bigots.
If/when Pies fans start booing him, you're welcome to come the Pies board and join me in lamenting the Pies supporters that boo him.

Thank god we have Mr Politically Correct hanging around to tell everyone off for booing.

On my way into the ground I walked past Dean Cox who was heading around towards the member's stand

Our inability to change lanes compresses the ground and in finals that invites pressure
Combine that with playing from deep in the back half and you just create more pressure. I expected us to try and make the ground big against Collingwood but we just allowed them to squeeze us up and beat us at the contest. Not only did we not take opportunities to open it up, we hardly provided the options.

Lack of composure? Too much pressure? Gameplan? I'd like to know what the combination of causes was.

McStay deleting his social media after abuse from his own team’s supporters. The jeering of Brayshaw off the ground after his career ending injury and the subsequent behaviour of their supporters both on this website and on other forms of social media - he still gets trolled today. Goodes, Winmar. Cans of VB being pelted at opposition players at Victoria Park etc etc.

And they have the audacity to come and lecture other team’s supporters about booing and civility. A disgraceful organisation - seeing the faux outrage from McRae and players is absolutely sickening.

I will say the booing of Quaynor was unedifying, but fairly predictable after the past fortnight. It’s a tribal game in a lot of aspects and emotions are high. The AFL and Media has a huge amount of culpability in the whole thing, but as normal they will absolve themselves of any wrong doing.

Choked. Didn't like the frontal pressure and heads went out the window.
Stuff this club has been doing for 20 years.

Unfortunately a reasonably expected result. Many predicted it and well done 1970crow for being so close on the margin (I thought 2 goal loss but felt like 6).

Hopefully a few home truths - very disappointing display firstly, no doubt. The pressure like we hadn’t faced and was like 2012 QF vs Swans. We may have finished top but weren’t the best team in it despite some bathwater consumption. We had been regressing for weeks before Thursdays game. The teams 5-8 look as dangerous collectively as the top 4. And when you look at the incredible tightness of the top 8 it showed how easily ladder positions could have flipped (Hawks beat Lions last minor round - and they weren’t far off - finish 3rd not 8th). The Suns are building a dynasty team. Already with Anderson, Rowell, King, Miller, Andrew they have elite players. And that’s before their 8 first rounders from 2023-2025 with a majority top 10). They are going to cause lots of September pain I feel.

But the main one we all know….our midfield is not competitive against the best. Need to get NWM in 2 years which will be helped by Power sucking. Otherwise go and start making 1.5m offers to W Ashcroft etc. We have had a good list build but unless both Draper and Curtin end up elite mids - still a few years off - we need more in there to be competitive in finals.

50/50 with Hawks game. They normally beat us. Hopefully we get it done as will be painful going out in straight sets and not sure any minor premier has actually done that. Win and play a big prelim at the G and it’s been an excellent season.
That’s it? Nothing about the diabolical coaching?

I understand the emotion people have after a finals loss, it sucks losing big games. However, after having more time to think about the game a few days on, did we really play that poorly?

Collingwood had their 5 goal, 10 minute burst at the start of the 3rd, not ideal obviously. However, they kicked 5 goals outside of that in 110 minutes (excluding the goal with 15sec left when game is dead). The game didn’t play out that differently to the previous win against them, it was a defensive struggle because both teams are so elite at it.

It’s not like after their burst we didn’t have ample opportunities to get right back into the game. We got it to 19 points, but definitely missed some golden opportunities through potentially a bit of finals inexperience, but it certainly wasn’t a breakdown of the game style which has served us well all season. Pedlar had a shot early in the 4th, Thilthorpe had that moment, we certainly weren’t struggling for scoring chances and had clamped right down on Collingwood’s scoring again.

Rachele will obviously be a little underdone, but he is a spark player that could kick 1 or 2 quickly and actually convert I50 dominance when we have momentum. MM has a game under his belt and will be far better for that. Dawson never puts in 2 average games in a row, he will lift.

Hawthorn aren’t the defensive team that Collingwood or the Crows are, they will give you a lot more opportunities and can be scored on quickly (as we showed a few weeks ago and the Giants did yesterday). We’ve earned this 2nd chance and I believe we are more than good enough to take it.
Nothing about the shit coaching?

Plus, even if the kick to Dawson is marked and Dawson stops and takes it, the mark was further away from where the umpire was taking Thilthorpe. He'd taken about 20m of his 50m penalty. He could've taken his kick from the centre circle almost and set up for a F50 entry where we had a paddock insidd 50 left of screen. It's just dumb arrogant shit for the sake of doing dumb arrogant shit.

Interesting the first thing we said at the game is take you full 50m. Don’t stuff around. You take your full 50 then kick it another 50m, you have moved the ball 100m, about 2/3rds of the ground size.

Think a few players thought they could be the hero on the night, just not doing the smart stuff. If you need to kick it to your teams advantage, do so.

When you put it like that I really do have sympathy for Geelong fans only having 2 flags in 14 years and having to wait almost 5 years for Grand Final appearances.
Sarcasm, right? :confusedv1:

I'd be VERY happy with Geelong's record under Scott (as we saw after the Bye, winning is much more fun than losing).

They do that millionaire shit almost every game and often get away with it. It gives me the absolute shits. I don't know if it's a team directive or not but I hate it.

In a position like that, you kick the goal. The team seems to care more about selflessness than winning. I don't know of Nicksy gives out KFC vouchers for the most goal assists but not goals but so many times this season I've seen this ridiculous handball happy bullshit 15m out from goal that takes us from a simple shot to a mess and rushed shot. We get ourselves into more than trouble than necessary and often it's not life or death, or we're against a team that couldn't make us pay, but in a final they will.

Everything about this situation does my nut in.

Our leading goalkicker and difference maker, running to an open goal, for a goal we desperately need to get us back with a chance, looks behind him and passes to the worst shot for goal on our list. If Keays was calling for it, he can get stuffed. Everyone knows he doesn't have a right foot, he's barely got a left foot. But even with Keays calling for it, Thilthorpe should've ignored it. Your 200cm arse is in the team to kick goals.

Even if he doesn't flub the pass it's still an insane decision. Hopefully they both learn from it. Finals isn't the place to be pulling fancy bullshit like that.

I don't leave games early, but if I was going to that would've been the moment to head for the gates. Put a picture of that next to Smith bombing it on Moore's head and that's the entire night summed up.
And Fog playing on from a set shot.

We were poor. Almost every player should hang their head. The coaches were fully outplayed. Really poor effort by everyone.

But we'll be far better for the run.

I'm expecting a ferocious Crows from now on.

I have no idea why Quaynor was booed.
But crowds of all kinds have booed players for years, notably Collingwood crowds too, eg aimed at Goodes and Franklin.

I guess you, as a Collingwood fan, would know all about that.

Rankine was suspended for using a homophobic slur about which all players have been educated (not to do) and for which others have been suspended, before him.
It was a mistake and he's doing his punishment but that's not enough for you, is it? :confusedv1: ... :grimacing:

You have to come in here and lecture us.

Rubbing our noses in it is laughable and staggeringly hypocritical of you.
Take your outrage back to your own Board and protest about your Club's well-known and well-documented racial bigotry towards your own and other Clubs' Indigenous players, described as "systemic racism", here:

Like I said, laughable hypocrisy.
You've never heard a Collingwood crowd boo players?

Get off your moral outrage high horse and do some work on cleaning your own house.

Just wait until Rankine plays against Collingwood at the G next year or the year after.

Will he get booed? Absolutely. Will they, the media and Collingwood supporters, say it isn’t right? Absolutely not. They will be the biggest hypocrites out. Guaranteed.

I'm sure Nicks' instructions weren't "Don't take a risk, don't play the corridor, don't change lanes". But we certainly didn't go in to the game thinking "Our game plan is solid, we are the better team". If we thought that, then we wouldn't have used Laird at stoppages from the start, nor used Max in a decoy role, nor flipped TT's and Tex's positions on the field. Collingwood played exactly the way they did in Round 23, the only difference was Cox + De Goey having form. We looked like we outsmarted ourselves and ignored the basics (like picking up the ball off the ground and not bombing straight to their +1).

We won playing a spare and thought we could get away with it again, ignoring Moore was disgraceful coaching

Quaynor was booed because he informed on someone. Whether you agree or not, societies have always despised informers. And rightly so in my opinion.

The pattern has been the same for ever. Those in control try to limit free speech and the expression of any alternate views, and a small percentage try to further themselves by pointing out transgressors in the name of moral outrage. Think of the inquisition or the FBI’s persecution of “communists” in the 60’s and there is countless other examples through history.

The great thing is that these horrible periods in history never last forever, and I’m confident that the pendulum will bounce back this time as well.
Was he the one who reported it? I wasn’t sure

Need a camp

Again - is it certain that it was Quaynor who reported it?
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Houston's name going around initially and it was reported in the media that the slur wasn't directed at him? And then when Quaynor's name was mentioned, there was silence?

Whilst that's not confirmation, it does tell you something.

We need to stop doing Cringe shit as a collective state.

They had the choir for the Swans. I know it was organised be the news as a stunt... BUT...

The signs at the airport.....

The 5AA production piece a few weeks ago....

It's all hubris... it's all cringe.... it gets in the heads of players, either drinking their own bathwater or raising unrealistic pressure and expectations.

Just shut the hell up and let the players focus on the game without the noise. EVERYTIME there is a sniff of hubris it backfires. And its a poor look to begin with.

Any thoughts on the actual coaching? You know the stuff that can actually impact the result, not airport signs
