What do you mean “returning to that well”? We’ve hardly been to it at all, and when we have the results have generally been good.

I don’t think a full time midfield role is needed, however he should be part of the rotation.

We were very much a part of the NWM chase so we can be confident the club is looking to add to that part of the ground. Merrett would be a great option, as would Oliver depending on how much salary the Dees take on.

However, if we don’t, there are still enough players on the list to improve the midfield mix.

Rankine back instantly makes it better.
Rachele spending 20% time in there makes a big improvement.
Curtin upping his minutes adds another dimension.
I still have a lot of confidence in Draper being a fantastic player. He needs the Curtin treatment next year of plug him in, leave him there until he adjusts to the pace of the game, and I think we will reap the rewards.

I’d love us to add a gun, but it’s not all doom and gloom if we can’t.

Rachele to the midfield is definitely a lever we need to be willing to pull. And well before we go to Laird or Keays

He won't be a full time option there yet but if we are struggling with ball use in the midfield we need to insert him there

I think theyre already on the list.

Draper will get there, and I think we'll see more of Curtin at CB next year. In the meantime we bring one in, Oliver, Bailey, whoever.... I dont care who it is, just do it. Get Rankine back in there, roll Rachele through there more and youve suddenly got a pretty handy midfield group.

Then youve got Peatling, Soligo and co dont have to do the heavy lifting and can do their bit as 2nd tier guys.
If we can count on Pedlars body holding up then he can play more forward and hopefully allow Rachele to play some genuine midfield time .

"Can't wait for our injured best forward to get back into our weakened forward line, so we can play him in a different position that is notoriously much harder on injured players"

Our depth is shallow.

I'd rather have Butts and Borlase on the list atm.

Delist Scholl, Smith and Crouch retire. Strachan delist.

For me that leaves questions over Shoenberg and Jones. Shoenberg been ok in SANFL, break glass depth? and delist Jones.

We need to bring in 2 minimum to bridge the gap. Ah Chee seems strongly linked to us.

We need to draft 3 or rookie upgrade.

Nank, Dowling, Draper and Cook need big preseasons. Does Nank have more in his ceiling?

There look like a few fringe players up in 2026. Bond should get an extension.

Strachan has already retired and who is Scholl?

Retire: Matthew Crouch, Brodie Smith

Trade: Huge Bond, Lachlan Sholl

Delist: Lachlan Murphy, Karl Gallagher, Harry Schoenberg, Kieran Strachan (He’s already delisted),

Re-sign: Taylor Walker, Chris Burgess, Kieran Strachan, Zac Taylor

Can’t see Strachan or Burgess being retained.

Only reason I feel they will keep Burgess, to help protect Toby Murray and Tyler Welsh. Without that big bodied senior body, they will get monstered.

Unless they plan on taking someone like McBean or someone like that.

End of the day they won’t want to play burgess in the firsts again so there’s not much use him being on the list.

I get your point re: protecting young key forwards but we have Madgen for that assuming he wants to go around again.

I also feel it’s very important to stay competitive. Bring uncompetitive allow poor habits to creep in and then take short cuts. If it’s not burgess or Madgen, I’m sure they will pick someone up to play that role as both Murray and Welsh are miles off AFL footy.

Our depth is actually a pretty major concern. We drop sharply from 23 or so . We retained a lot we should have cut last year so now have a glut of cuts to make. Need at least 2-3 developing mids

Ibis was poor today but given his trajectory prior to injury I don’t think he’s miles off it.

Agree on welsh.

Anyone think we are getting Draper the fact players going to Brisbane have nominated but I feel like the crows have asked him to not mention us as it would cause some friction with Rob.
In saying that it’s ridiculous if he doesn’t know Draper isn’t coming already but communicating doesn’t seem like our strong point.

Possible, but it might just be Sam delaying either way.

Or hes actually staying

No point keeping players on our list who can't play well at AFL level... so Burgess needs to go.
