Yeah

A lot play out

But if Charlie is going would like to turn that in to butters by including WCE ie

Charlie to swans
Warner to wce
Very early picks to PA

Why? I mean apart from the obvious that Butters is a gun, the kind of contract it would take... would basically be "an offer he can't refuse" type of deal...

We are in no position to be doing that for a few reasons:

1 - cap pressure
2 - what do you think Walsh is going to ask for next year as a FA if Butters is on 2M/season?
3 - we are not finals contenders next year or the year after... possibly not until 2029 anyway.. by then Butters is pushing 30...

I agree on points one and two. Not 3. We might be we might not be. But either way. The sheer cost of butters compared to the value add doesn't economics.

Some serious dissing of St Kilda going on in here. I'm no apologist for them, but they won four out of their last five games, have a proven coach, some serious young talent in Tauru, Wilson, Phillipou, Hall, and Travaglia, and are about to add 4 x best 22 players to their list and possibly a couple more first round draft picks. Nice work, and their future looks pretty promising to me.
What happens in the next 2-3 years when the aforementioned young talent have breakout years and they can’t pay to keep them?

Small picture thinkers

Walsh has not done enough to justify a big pay day, needs to be more damaging, clubs paying these $ are not building a team to challenge .
l don't see us chasing Butters we are no longer in the window to challenge.
Our cap is fine after departures, l expect us to target some quality via the draft the next two years.

Walsh will rightly argue that he has given his all for the club and been loyal, played through injury etc.

Walsh will also likely be receiving some pretty big offers in his own right, especially if he recaptures his form next season.

Agree with the rest.

Applaud you for going against the grain.

The constant dissing is a bit much. Yes they are opposition, but some here have an ingrained hatred towards them that I don’t.

The Linton street rabble, please.

We’ve done nothing for 30 years. Doesn’t that make us the Royal Parade rabble.

Saying their fans are the worst as a reason, geez some our fans are feral also.

I have many st kilda mates and I would be stoked for them to see a flag in their lifetime.

I hate teams that have had continued success over the years, not the underdogs.

Each to their own.

A couple of those proved to be tough opponents for us though…
A W is a W (unless it’s not)
yes, but we were feeble against North. Weak.

Point is that a big run against bottom 6 teams is not that great, even if we couldnt

Is there core team good enough or is this the last gasp for Ross / SOS, good friends? I feel Ross might be removed before this team can come good.

I’d be keen on Walter and 6, def would be overs, but it would make a huge difference to their side too.

I wonder if gc is willing to trade former academy players, because in future it could be used against them for getting access to top talent if they just trade them after 2/3 years anyway. Why should they get that leg
Up?
AFL would cream their pants if Charlie went to the nepo babies

Really need to hold out for a mega deal from Gold Coast- they have been insane with all their recent giveaways of picks over recent years . Charlie brings in as bigger media hype / kids jerseys as nearly anyone not named Daicos. AFL would love it. Jed and two picks or another player and a pick. Has to be massive .

Can we live without Walsh if we have cerra?

Just not convinced by Walsh’s ongoing injuries

If we’re not going to compete until Butters is 30 that would make Charlie 34 and likely retired. Think your logic works against you a bit

That'll be the year we do a SOS and re-recruit Paddy Dow.
