I’ll also state in my opinion if you are a youngster with a truely elite skill like kicking then it only gets amplified at AFL level and becomes a real weapon. Contested footy rate can be heavily influenced by roles and balance.

Xavier Lindsay could play as a genuine midfielder and could win plenty of contested ball in his draft year. He will play a lot of midfield time in the coming years which you couldn’t really say for Josh.I think I read on here that you don’t see Josh Lindsay having any contested game which is why he’ll never translate to a midfielder.
How do you see Josh Lindsays potential flaw of low contested possession rate compared to a Xavier Lindsay? Xavier was pick 11 in a very strong draft and a lot are saying this draft isn’t as strong.
Many have said Xaviers year was very impressive, even with a contested possession rate of 26% (which was rated 580th in the competition this year).

Well Bangers here ya go![]()
Athletically limited, undersized, doesn't leave the forward 50, I don't really see what about him would hold up at AFL levelWhat are the chances of Charlie Mckinnon getting picked up in the draft? I understand that leading goalkickers in the coates league don't always translate to getting picked up in the draft so is there something holding him back? I know his size as a key likely doesn't help.
How do you see him now, Had a very good VFL game and been very handy in midfield for the Dragons!I need to see more from him to be confident he's a worthwhile draft pick, currently he's a pretty stock standard back flanker without an AFL Weapon that probably wouldn't be getting airtime if he wasn't club linked
I think he could be a Rowell type at AFL level in a couple of years, thoughts on that mate?
Should go to the Giants then?Robey has scope to be one of the physically biggest mids in the game. I know his dad quite well, who is one of the most naturally massive ****ing units you’d ever encounter.
Sullivan has exactly the same frame to build on.
Pretty much. I'm coming around to the idea of there being enough potential role players for it not to be a disaster of a draft, but at this stage, and this could change in rewatching the Champs of course, I really only see 2, maybe 3, players that would be Top 10 considerations in most other years. For example I'd say Duursma is my number 1 at the moment and I don't think he'd crack the top 7 last year, and Uwland as No. 2 would probably go at around 12-15
Robey definitely has the physique of an AFL player.. lovely balanced kick. clearly a top 20 draftee. But he's going to get a shock when he rocks up to training . His work rate needs a big step up.Robey has scope to be one of the physically biggest mids in the game. Id very cautious of drafting Duursma with pick 1...PMBangers
Hey Bangers, if we assume Duursma is pick 1 - where would he have gone in the last few drafts?
Just trying to get a gauge on how his talent/potential compares to recent draft classes.
Thank you, love your work
I went to the game yesterday. Was impressed by number 9 for Sandy. If you want more leg speed + midfield potential then Grlj, if you want ore precision ball use + decision making from defensive 50 then Lindsay. Just an outsiders view but with Banks, Brown, Trainor, etc I'd say you guys are in a decent place for ball use but lack top end speed, so Grlj would be my suggestion
Think Duursma goes top 5 in most drafts, not many players that height offer the athleticism and cleanliness he has at ground levelPMBangers

I doubt that's the case with AFL recruiters that watched him last year and his 3 early CTL games this year though?Out of sight out of mind
To be fair if he’s not playing games it’s not quite out of sight out of mind per se but it’s just a thousand more chances for other players to jump over him. Still think he’ll be a great player but don’t think he goes till the second half of the second round if not 3rd round +I doubt that's the case with AFL recruiters that watched him last year and his 3 early CTL games this year though?
Has a National Draft Combine Invite and my eye test would suggest he should test well athletically if he tests.
Any updates on if he's good to go at the Combine?
Ahem…2024 top 10
Lalor
FOS
Smith
Draper
Ashcroft
Langford
Smillie
Travagalia
Lombard
Taru
Ashcorft the only standout performer IMO.
Not sure 2024 top 10 is screeming Super Draft just yet. And Smillie hasnt even debuted.
No standout talls.
Duursma, Sharp and CDT would definately give some in there a run for their money IMO.
