Interesting a bloke that couldn’t get a game for west coast most of the year is seen as best 22 for us

My Aunty lives up there and is a member. It costs about $5 a year and she does it just to get fuel discounts. She said she knows many who do the same so not sure what % of the 55k is footy related."Suburban football club" is really underselling the significance of the Sharks on the Gold Coast.
Even today their membership numbers are going toe-for-toe growth wise with what the AFL has gotten out of the Suns.
The Sharks have over 55000 members (as many paid members as the Brisbane Lions). The Suns broke 30k for the first time this year.
One of the most arrogant and wrong decisions the AFL commission has ever made, and that’s saying somethingI think everyone in QLD footy at the time was surprised they didn't go with the sharks. They were more AFL ready than 1/3 of AFL clubs at the time.

Based on what?Looking more and more like we are less and less of a destination club![]()

List management team you be fired on the spotGeez I really hope we don’t get Petrecelle.
Not a massive move but at a great age and provides some run and footskills for hopefully not too much trade capital. Hopefully gets some luck with his body. Happy with this
We didn't bring in Butters and Gulden so are now less of a destination club.Based on what?
I tend to agree with this sentiment. Only caveat being that outside types can find it hard when the team is getting pummelled inside.Interesting a bloke that couldn’t get a game for west coast most of the year is seen as best 22 for us
Haha…
Who is he![]()
My view is that what was meant to be the mid tier on our list has been gutted (SPS, Stocker, Philp, Kennedy, Owies, Cuningham, Martin, Marchbank, etc.)Looking more and more like we are less and less of a destination club![]()

Bringing in the big names!
There's a gap in our list between your Khamis and Gulden types that we need to reinforce. Otherwise we run the risk of leaving too much up to our top end to do in a game... which plenty of us on here have been rightfully frustrated with over the past 18 months.I know you’re joking but this is the 2025 trade/draft strategy. It’s names like Reidy, Chesser and Khamis, and not Gulden, Butters or Bailey. Plus any youth and draft picks that come in like Dean.
There won’t be a $2m ruckman coming in to replace TDK and no $1m KPD coming in replace JSOS either. It’s the medium/long game we’re now playing.
We need to learn how to hit a target (across the board, from #1 to 46) and some goal shot practice to make a lot better. There's a gap in our list between your Khamis and Gulden types that we need to reinforce. Charlie is a generational talent.
I’m not for Walter but this is…. Who gives a ****. Winning does good things for memberships. Players are transient. Good culture. Winning team. Memberships take care of themselves. They should literally never be part of decision making. End result. Not part of a process. Looks after itself when the clubs winning.Bringing in Walter and letting Charlie go does what to the membership numbers?
The only trades i would entertain:
Charlie for Gulden and their first pick
Or
Charlie and a second round pick for Walter, Humphries and their first round pick.
Otherwise don't bother calling.
We might pick up a few disgruntled Melbourne supporters who show up with their cheese boardsBring out your chess boards folks. Check mate!
No. To all of it.Walter looks too cumbersome and lacks agility for the modern game
