What gets me with this diversity nonsense is that you as the person getting employed. How do you live with yourself that you've been given a job as the 100th best option, a fraud?
Diversity done right isn't about giving it to someone that's not qualified, it's about identifying that preconceived notions about who could be qualified is limiting, and you should consider all candidates and what they may bring.

Multiple HR studies have shown a diverse workplace fosters innovation and performance.

She doesn't give a Fcuk, it's all about the money and the prestige. Dillon is in the same boat as her, incompetent and promoted upwards.

Can't believe this thread is at 30 pages............

that is normally reserved for contentious arguments like is Nicky Daicos the GOAT, not discussions like does Kelli Underwood cause ear bleeding.

Looking back at the announcement of priority packages over the years, we should know what it is, if anything, by mid to late September.

WEST Coast has formalised its bid for a list assistance package from the AFL, with the Eagles' case for help including requests for an end-of-first round pick and draft selection that must be traded.

The Eagles waited until their season finished before making their application for list concessions but have since had talks with the League on their proposal.

Included in the options put forward by the Eagles are access to more rookie list spots, with the club having ties to multiple Next Generation Academy and father-son prospects at this year's draft, as well as an extra selection at the end of the first round and another selection that comes with the caveat that it must be traded.

The Eagles have also put forward their hope to not have their Oscar Allen free agency compensation pick – expected to be No.2 – diluted if they bring in a free agent this year.

I think they have aimed pretty high here in the hope to get something thats the equivalent of half of what they are asking.

It is fairly batshit insane that you have to make a proposal of what you want in the form of assistance and then the AFL get to pick what they will and won't give you from that.

Should just be a set thing.

Spud club: "Hello we request the assistance package because we are shit"
AFL: "Yep you are shit, here you go. Have our standard assistance package of increased list size, minimum salary spend gone, ability to pre-sign NGA/F/S players and an end of first round pick that must be traded for an experienced player to help you out. Best of luck"

No constant debate on what they will or won't get, just a consistent thing everyone gets if it gets dire.

You can't control the narrative if you can't pivot your response to events.

The Victorian teams surviving through to at least week 3 of finals will probably help us a lot here, as the Vic media are too distracted to care about West Coast. I'd expect no to the FA compo thing, 2 extra rookie spots and one pick we have to trade (which we use on Starcevich and effectively achieves the FA compo).

The irony being that a good chunk of our assistance will indirectly assist the reigning premier as well (letting Allen go for pick 2 and giving them a compo pick for Starcevich).

That would be giving a priority pick to Lions, not us. They would get nothing for him through free agency.

Honestly the only one I can see the AFL considering is extra rookie spots, but might as well extend that to all teams...

They are going to have a massive PR problem if they water down the compo from what we have requested too much.

We are asking for basically what Nth got, for similar (slightly better) performance over 4 years. Asking way less than what the Suns got.

I’m anti assistance (across the whole league), but fair is fair and while the mechanism is in place we are 100% entitled to all except the FA ask based on precedent

They haven't notified that they are changing the parameters on priority picks, so yes, we should get it based on precedent.

I'd have no issues for them to then say priority picks are changing/gone and do that moving forward.

If they did that two years ago, we'd have no case now, but they didn't, so we do.

Next minute

AFL: We're changing the secret herbs and spices... we'll call it the KFE (Kentucky Fried Eagle), and its only for the West Coast.

The AFL wouldn't want to water down the compensation too much, looking at Collingwood's age profile. The Pies might be strong this year, but that's a very high cliff they're heading towards, and I can see them right down for years trying to rebuild.

The AFL's not going to want to set a precedent that means one of the big Vic clubs can't get compensation.

Since when has rank hypocrisy been something the VFL has been frightened of?

This is the same bunch that signed up the mcg deal more than a decade out from the old deal expiring in secret.

Well that's what we all though Q but its not happening......father sons/free agency/ academies/fixture unfair

the comp is not working in terms of equalisation.... clubs that are down the bottom stay down there longer and longer...clubs at the top just keep topping up. How many times has geelong and the pies been in the prelims these last 25 years...heaps

I thought the premier league was bad...but the AFL is just the same

Sadly, we actually have worse performance over four years than North had. 2020-2023, north had 12 wins and a draw from 85 games. 2022-2025, we have eleven wins from 91 games. But the difference of course is that at the end of their 4 year period north had received two assistance packages comprising five picks across three years, including three first rounders, plus other assistance. At the end of our four year period, we're still fighting to get any assistance at all.
