A little surprised we haven’t got a Smith retirement announcement.

We can’t give him another contract for next year. If he players, it would be his last game at Adelaide oval
The tradition is for us to announce it during his post match press conference

Do you mean like last year?

He was given 15 games and averaged 9 disposals, 1.5 tackles and less than a goal a game. He was rated below average in every category.

This year he was only given 3 games and averaged a whopping 6 disposals a game but at least he was consistent, rating below average in all categories again.

But, but, but he played a blinder against Glenelg.

Dowling could've got Murphy's 5 games quite easily.

The problem is unless you find a way to counteract, a 50:50 win rate is unlikely to translate to 3 wins in a row against the best few teams and coaching groups.

Yeah but the reason teams don’t go more direct is because our defensive structure doesn’t allow them to

Didn’t he kick a bag in the 2s last week?
Don't know.

Hasn't looked himself in games i have seen this year & wasn’t surprised he was the tall to drop out last week.

Solid replacement for Dear though.

Comparing the games played for players with these two teams makes for interesting reading.

That 50-200 game level player is far more exposed and numerous on Hawthorn's side.

Meanwhile we have Smith, Crouch, Murphy and Jones occupying our numbers which are already behind.

Rachele should start on the bench and be given ten minute bursts in each quarter depending on need. If he is good to go in the last leave him on! To many variables of be is sub.

Midweek tackle discussing how Ginnivan will be received and started going on about how awful our crowds are.

Apparently our crowds are the only hostile ones out there. I suppose that’s a good thing really.

He will get booed, is that really worth discussing on a TV show....? The blokes an absolute campaigner.

I.said a about a month ago Adelaide home games were being painted into the second coming of the New Den (Millwall) which is hilarious to see...

We have a really passionate supporter base that has been starved of success, but the media shifting narrative on the apricot slice brigade to being a bunch of deranged, unsafe supporters is really a sight to behold 🤣🤣 Adelaide oval will soon become a no travelzome for victorians.

Clearly its a deliberate tactic to try and silence the crowds. Its pretty poor really.

Feel like a Douglas moment is coming
For Smith ??

Maybe, though I think he knew he was pretty lucky to sneak through last year and his form is..... no better.

Players who dont get to retire on their own terms are always likely to crack the sads a bit, you're getting sacked from a job youve had for 15 years.

I have this feeling that he and Murphy will be retained as rookies.

Yeah but how many opportunities should one get?
You have jones who for his whole 96 game career also rates at below average in everything and he’s played in far more ball getting positions than cook.

Would much rather we know definitively that cook isn’t the way forward, than play Murphy or jones, who we should well and truly know by now, aren’t the way forward.

How many games will we have used on players that get delisted this year?

Most opposition boo Ginnivan as he wants the attention.

If this is a news item for them, not much of a show.

Drop Smith. I was warming to him as a permanent sub, but the blaze from 65m out with multiple options inside 50 ended that.
Imo, we need a midfielder as sub.

Gives us flexibility to cover the ground as we can push Cumming back if needed.
