Just backing this up Geelong won’t be an issue. They’d probably have the smallest gold AFL member allotment of any Victorian team because AFL membership (to my knowledge) only has an allocated section at the MCG where they host maybe 2 matches a year. If we make it and cop Hawthorn you‘ll again be fine, but if you’re not on the ball or cop a rubbish spot in the queue you could be top deck.

Lucky for me top deck is where we love sitting lol

We've always sat in Q15-Q21 (in that range) for the entire time the Southern Stand has existed

Hey guys it’s my first time posting on a thread so excuse it’s my first time registering for the ballot I’m p3 so i understand I’m I’m no hope haha but i require a wheelchair accessible seat i have my special barcode im just wondering if anyone here sat in an accessible seat for the gf thanks lads !
Go pies

The only two clubs with enough AFL Gold Club Support members to potentially "fill" the AFL Members section combined are Collingwood and Carlton

Even then I'm not sure it would be 100% full
depends how much of the AFL reserve they allocate elsewhere - not all of it is for AFL members on Grand Final day - there is a variable capacity.

I remember going to the 2013 GF between Hawthorn and Freo - I struggled to get a ticket - finally managed in top deck. There were a few bays of Freo only - in the AFL members section - they were clearly allocated to Freo members instead.

Yeah good point re Geelong. Hawthorn more an issue, but still probably ok.
Gold AFL Membership is worth it's weight in, well, Gold! I'm a 30 year member now. 25 years as FULL / GOLD, and been able to go to all Collingwood Grand Finals, and all but the 2009 GF which for some reason, glitched when I was booking.

I know that's how it works that's why I specified Club support

It's tiered allocation

Gold Club Support

If that doesn't sell the AFL members out (it never would) then the next tier is:

Gold any club

If that doesn't sell it out (it almost always will) then the next tier is:

Silver Club support

If that doesn't sell it out (lol it would be long gone by now) then the last tier is:

Silver any club

no I mean, some of the ponsford stand end half of the Southern Stand (AKA AFL reserve) is not all for AFL members - of any category.

Back in the day, they would cap it to 60% of the total AFL members allocation for competing clubs.
Then they changed it to category 1 gets 100% access first (competing clubs GOLD)
Then category 2 gets a second go (Non competing GOLD - often me wanting to go as a neutral).
Then category 3 (Completing club SILVER) etc etc.

My point was that the home and away season AFL members area, is often reduced in the Grand Final - the AFL gives off bays to whatever they feel like, from that. Our allocation is not fixed for the GF and is variable by up to 5,000 seats.

I'm realising that we both know how this works in the AFL Members and with the ballot but we're getting mixed up on what we're actually discussing lmao

All good

I’ve gone as the companion.
There’s a series of single seats with a space beside them for a wheelchair at the back of the terrace at concourse level.
Mine was in the southern stand, 2011.
Decent seat.
Vacant ones left, so back then it would have been easy.
You may have a chance. Or not. Haha.

Same here, actually found an SMS that confirmed it. The way the letter was written just added confusion, then again it could just be me.
It's not you. They need to be more clear with the members. Just say it directly on the mymagpies site that the current barcode you have listed is all good for the register. It causes confusion when they leave empty spaces and you think you've missed out. I didn't recieve a text and had to call the club to confirm.

can anyone see a link to actually access the 'register for gf ballot' page on ticketek
it may not be up until tomorrow perhaps, but feels strange that it's not on there at all this evening

Long shot, but if anyone isn't using their barcode in tomorrow's ballot DM me. Happy to work out something as a thank you! I'm a P2 member but am short on ballot entries for family.

I wouldn't expect it to be available until 9am in the morning.
The club said in the initial ballot email “The Ticketek registration link will be added to our Member FAQs page by Tues 9 Sep.”
