Yes I’m on the big cull

Paying good money for poor quality

I’m keeping Kayo and Netflix

Probably ditching everything else

Am I alone on this issue?

The issue is simply one of economics, and understanding the impact of shareholders demanding a return

If you have maxed out on subscriber numbers ....then the only way to increase profits is thru increasing subscription costs .....more so if your subscriber numbers are dropping

Then on top of that, you have the increasing cost of shows / movies to a decreasing subscriber base .....hardly a great return on investment, which is why quality of Netflix propriety shows / movies have dropped, there's no commitment to quality ($$$)

Now multiply this scenario across all streaming platforms

I don’t mind it? It’s far better than the days when everything was on Foxtel and you had to spend a fair amount each month to have it. Now I just have one streamer at a time, watch everything worth watching over 1 to 2 months, then cancel and move on to the next one. It takes me most of a year to get through them all. It’s not excessively expensive doing it this way.
Kayo is the only one on permanently.

Buy yourself a raspberry pi. Install plex or jellyfin and download your own stuff. Never pay a cent to these pricks again.

I pay for Stan, Netflix, Disney+, Prime and until recently AppleTV (I cancelled as soon as they hiked the price up).

My parents pay for Paramount, Foxtel and Max. I have my friends Kayo account.

I don't watch TV every night but it works out I pay just under $100 a month for the services I pay for. I would spend that in under an hour on a Saturday night out with friends so to me it's not a rip off.

We should be signing up, binging, then unsubscribing. Instead we just keep the payment ticking over and throw our money down the drain while we wait for something we might like.
I hate streaming companies and most of the offerings, but if I could limit the money spent to times of heavy use, it's money better spent.

How do we rank the streaming services anyway?

1. Max
2. Netflix
3. Stan
4. AppleTV (although the movie selection is dire)
5. Paramount+
6. Prime
7. Disney+
8. Binge (RIP)

Actually a little harsh on D+ as they've had some bangers (Paradise, Andor, The Bear before it went to shit) and have a classic Disney movie collection. Feel like Prime has it covered for newer movies though. Stan is so underrated. Paramount are doing some good things too. AppleTV got some amazing original series in Shrinking, Serverance, Ted Lasso but a little lacking on the movie front. Max with the HBO series is too good not to be on top spot but they've also popped out some really good, new movies recently. I feel like Netflix is the best streaming service for documentaries and sport series so it can sit on 2nd spot.

I have Stan and Prime but they’re half because I share with my parents - I’d probably dump Stan in particular otherwise.

If it was just me I’d only have the Criterion Channel, which I signed up for on VPN and is by far the best one. Otherwise, as folks have suggested, I’d just use Plex.

I also barely watch television because it is mostly crap to just have on in the background (especially post-the fleeting Golden Age of Television, killed by streaming services).

i pay for apple
i pay half kayo with my stepson
he pays stan with sports half with his older brother and a firend, and i get a screen for nothing as it comes with 4

my gf pays for netflix
no idea who is paying for disney+ we have - maybe my step daughter

cancelled prime, binge and paramount in last 6 months

D+ Gets a bump us as it now has ESPN. Means i've dumped Kayo post AFL, and can watch NBA/NFL on Disney plus
