I am happy to gamble that whoever did this was on the left.

If i am wrong i'm happy to return, eat my words and apologise.

It's interesting that you find the shooting abhorrent (as you should), but you also find some of the commentary and supposed "cheering" or jokes about it, equally offensive.

It's interesting because then you make a comment like, "I'm happy to gamble". It's only been 6 hours after the assassination but you're already playing "gamble games?"

Since the assassination there's been probably around 30 people that have been killed by guns in America. The same guns that Kirk so vehemently defended and made a career out of.

gambling on the perpetrator being of a certain political view is not the same as lauding over someone being murdered who has a wife and kids.

You do you though.

I respectfully disagree.

I think its more nuanced than the simple view that he supported guns, was killed by a gun.

He did not support the 2nd amendment as a means to kill political rivals or people you disagree with.

But i suppose i agree, not worth going into now.
I think what you might be missing is that people who invoke the second amendment as some kind of irrefutable argument against any gun control are in the same breath schilling for an actual autocratic tyranny in the US.

Yes well it does seem the left are the ones constantly shooting people.
There's no facts behind this statement. Pelosi's husband attacked with a hammer, the Minnesota legislators shot by a MAGA dressed as a cop.

I'd say it's probably fairly 50-50 in the last 20 years. For the 50 years before that it was all one-way GOP shooter traffic just outright murdering people across America to oppose Civil Rights.

You're trying to set up a hierarchy of decency by speculating what is tolerable, because mockimg somebody with a wife and kids is not decent, but here’s the contradiction you don't seem to acknowledge...

Kirk himself repeatedly shrugged off the deaths of other people’s kids, other people’s partners, other people’s families (in schools, in churches, in nightclubs) as the “unfortunate price of freedom.” You haven't come out in condemnation of that. Telling.

You don't see the double standard you're applying because people are mocking the situation just because a person has a wife and kids it's now sacred? Why is Kirk's family’s grief weightier than the thousands of families Kirk’s rhetoric dismissed?

Kirk humanised only his side, and dehumanised everyone else. Now, even in death, some of his defenders are playing the same game.. centring his family’s pain while ignoring the broader families broken by gun violence.

"You do you" is how you finished your post. Let's see what next insult you still direct my way, dismissing everything I've just said. I'm assume you'll become more unhinged and with more ad-hominemen with each post here.

Haven’t insulted you at all, the fact you think I have probably shows a lot.

Have your opinion. I’ll have mine

You do you is not a personal insult? What is it if it's not dismissve of a poster? Are you being deliberately disingenuous to gain points because I don't think it's going to work for you.

You also haven't address the points about how Kirk dismissed school shootings and mass shootings all in the name of the second amendment.

RWNJ who promotes political violence and guns and who states abhorrently that gun deaths are an acceptable price to pay for his countries god given right to bear arms is killed in an act of political violence....
welcome to america :beercheers:

[edit] the outpuring of grief from the right - from bone spurs down* - is in stark contrast to their response to melissa hortmans recent assassination ...... bear that in mind when you question the how the 'left' have responded

* case in point - $h1t for brains has just done an oval office address to the nation

What you are "happy" to do is reduce everything to some stupid left v right binary contest where everything bad that happens to one side is fine and normal and everything bad that happens to your side is simply not acceptable. Notwithstanding that the bad things to each side are the exact same things.

You are not only "happy" to do this, you are eager to do it.

What is happening the USA - the reduction of all civil discourse to stupid culture wars fought exclusively by extremists on both sides - will not end well.

And those who encouraged, supported and enabled it will be the first to blame someone else. You will be one of those.

1. I don't even know who this Charlie Kirk is, apparently he's another right wing hate merchant who pedalled violence and was okay with gun violence deaths as an acceptable loss to the 2nd amendment? Then he got what he wanted, live by the bullet die by the bullet

2. I will give as much of a **** about this as Americans care about the children and common folk who get massacred in mass shootings that happen every day in America, which is nothing.

Come back to me when they kick up a song and dance about children getting murdered in a mass shooting just two weeks ago, instead they only make noise when a rich guy that happens to align politically with the wealthy who owns most the media apparatus who got done by the thing he advocated for. People can define you by the kind of people you mourn and don't mourn, it's like mourning when sauron died but crickets when Gandalf died

I'd say it's probably 90-10 skewed to the right, I mean they've got the gun nuts who hate the government after all, and also a few mass shootings have had right wing motivations behind them, ie the ones where they've gone after certain segments of the population.

you do you is an insult now? ok mate. Im implying have your own opinion on something. Do you not want that?

anyways i quite literally said im not across this school shooter thing you mentioned. And i also said if it was true it would probably change my opinion

i am certainly not aware of him saying that school shooting are necessary. So if that true it would probably change my opinion a fair bit.
