There's no point trading for Nic Martin - he probably plays 5 games max if any coming off an ACL.

It is weird and I'd honestly say a bit refreshing we aren't hearing strong noise of players leaving or coming to the club this offseason.

I don't count Brodie or Reidy in that as realistically if we kept them on another season they probably play max 5 games between them next season before being delisted.
he did it in July, and players have been recovering quicker than 12 months. Maybe he would only play 5 games for Essendon because they won't make finals...

besides you missed the key word from my post: delusional. I can do waaay worse if you want, like the club is working on landing ZB - either one will do.

(honestly & more boringly, I agree with you. especially with the latest group of extensions. it's a good group to keep together + positive signs)

Four senior lists, two rookie spots, two Category B rookie spots if anyone was wondering.

I've upgraded Draper as it has to happen under AFL rules. Reckon Sharp will be upgraded as well but nothing officially stating he has been yet.

BTW this assumes Brodie and Reidy are traded.

Tom Sheridan, Brandon Walker, Jack Anthony … we’ve had plenty worse performances.
??

Sheridan made one noticeable howler- but we were still over 2 kicks from the lead (could argue Freddy’s goal line miss did costs us in a 1 point game)
Jack Anthony- didn’t play finals for us so moot
Walkers the only comparison and he at least had youth in his side and at the G in front of 90k pies fans

Freddys is the worst for mine as it included cat 10 errors AND most concerning plenty of squib/soft efforts- in fact a continuation from the r24 game too

Agree Freddy’s not going anywhere but fmd he’d have to have lost some serious trust amongst playing group and coaches after his last 2 games.

Not all players are brayshaw/serong for courage but even as an exclusively outside player he just HAS to go when it’s his turn .
No player should get a pass there.

Bit like with the coach now, only come finals and some big improvement in intensity and effort can Freddy redeem himself AFAIC

Those 3 plus Frederick are the same level.

Just can’t trust ‘em in the big games and finals.

I do not care how well you perform on a quiet Sunday afternoon game against St. Kilda in May.

Can you do it in a big final at the MCG against Collingwood in September? And the answer for Frederick is a resounding no.

Great news wit the Freddy sign, was worried as hawks were all over him

Sharp signing on, good to have that confirmed

Doesn't look like we are delisting and relisting omac then

Who does that leave for next year?

Sturt likely done
So just Johnson to get signed up? Before the big one of serong the year after

Given Freddy was already contracted for next year you'd have to assume there some salary cap thing happening too. Maybe his previous deal was back ended and it's being spread out

Sure but we need to win the games on a quiet Sunday afternoon game against St Kilda in May. Freddy was a good contributor this year and is probably the only player on our team who has kicked 20+ goals 4 years in a row.

He played a horrible, truly horrible final but you don’t make list management decisions based on one game.

Switta and Wagner the most important short-term names to tick off, Johnno, Voss and maybe NOD the most important long-term. Think someone posted something about Ryan Daniels saying Voss was almost done?

Aside from his form falling off a cliff and becoming a B26 player what did Sharp do again to get 2 years?

He was hampered this year by a lower leg injury, remains an important member of the team, few have his endurance and long (often inaccurate) kick. If he can kick to leads, was working on that in the WAFL, he’ll be a long term player for us. If both JOM and Sharp were out of contract? Which would you prefer getting 2 years.

Switta, Wagner, Voss, Johnson and Nod the most important from that list?

Oh my sweet summer child...

Did so in 2022. Half the team was overawed.

The pressure should be on OMeara, who at his age, was probably the worst on ground given how ineffective his time on ground and useless his disposal was. Same to NOD. Amiss was poor and has been underwhelming all year.

True. But I think we could find a hundred other guys who can perform just as well on a casual Sunday against St. Kilda.

Finals is what matters and he broke my trust in him.

He’s just not that guy, time to move on from him.

Same goes for JOM, NOD, Amiss, Worner. All had moments.
Like I said, let’s make finals consistently. Make top 4. Get double chances, and build the culture. See where these players belong.

You think we can reliably find a hundred other players who can kick 30 goals and get 17 goal assists over a season? Not to mention that Freddys been pretty reliable for the last 4 years.
