Too many positives he brings to the team to throw the baby out with the bathwater on this one BUT…

yeah he genuinely needs to redeem himself in high pressure/finals games tho to regain trust.
Finals especially the big ones often come down to moments and they truly can end up being the difference between winning and losing so his “efforts” these last 2 games certainly can’t just be passed off either.

He’ll have his opportunity’s for redemption so it’s now up to him how he responds

Aside from his form falling off a cliff and becoming a B26 player what did Sharp do again to get 2 years?

I think he was clearly carrying something this year which killed him. If we are talking purely wingmen, he is superior to NOD.

If we’re calling it, NOD isn’t a pure wingman. He has been played out of position for the stake of the team. He’s an inside outside type like Young. He should’ve got given that chance when Young was injured as well as Johnson.

I can only assume the contract extension with Frederick was agreed upon weeks ago.

Freddie has a 12 month wait for his redemption because whatever he produces during the regular season is in reality not going to excite me enough to trust him until i see him produce it in a final after Saturday's performance.

I totally agree that he is as well, it just seems as though he isn't good enough to play that role at the top level.
The fact that he hasn't put the time into at least learning how to kick on his right better than a 10-year-old is glaring.

Finals is what matters and he broke my trust in him.

I lost trust in Ballas after 2013 GF

He sort of half got it back at times but that shocker of a performance lived in my memory for a fair while even when he was kicking bags was he going to be able to do it in finals again.

He needs to chase and tackle with the speed, that he runs towards goals.

Given Freddy was already contracted for next year you'd have to assume there some salary cap thing happening too. Maybe his previous deal was back ended and it's being spread out

Freddy wouldn't be getting a pay reduction, if anything he would be getting more, he signed that long termer pretty early on as a pick 60 odd

Listening to Mark Duffield, just sharing a few things he has mentioned that are worth a discussion.

1. With out Switta we don't have much forward pressure. How can we improve this? A forward line with Frederick, Bolton and Dudley is not the answer. I am not sure Reid provides much forward pressure either.
2. How many poor performances from players in finals do you get, before you look at trading other options in those positions?
3. If you could swap Darcy for a similar caliber mid would you do it? This is probably a mute point, as it is hard for us to bring in new players but it is worth discussion.

How did you hear it if the point is mute?

Frederick has little game sense in terms of knowing where to position himself to corral players.
Always running the wrong way, guarding space when he should be putting pressure on or being drawn in when he should be closing space.

If he is going to play that role then we can accept his average kicking but cannot accept the fumbling

Aish was the big fumbler of our midfielders and got phased out of the team for it

Needs to spend a summer working on his groundball

If that was the case, should’ve loss faith in Fyfe as well. Players have their moments.

Can see a Reid, Frederick, Bolton, Switkowsi and Dudley off the bench. It can work, only if the sub spot is thrown out in 2026.
That allows for Dudley to come off the bench with energy. He would benefit the most from that rule.

NOD is exactly like Acres but I think he can be better. Needs uninterrupted run at it (injury) as he's always a bit behind the eight ball.

Then Sharp needs to keep the outside wing role and not change. That was an issue second half of the season that came back to bite the team. Lock in the wingers.

You have to imagine that he is considered best 22 but the reported injury stopped him playing at his best. That’s My guess anyhow, but no denying that he needs to work on his contest efforts a lot!
