I don't think he'll be traded but I know for a fact he's keen to get to Geelong.

As everyone knows, Geelong have a few powerful, wealthy, unofficial inner-sanctum backers that are very, very good at manipulating player salaries or 'off-the-book' rewards.' Was told reliably the AFL's 'token' investigation into the last year was nothing more than a couple of phone calls...thanks to the power of Andrew Dillon's best mate, Geelong CEO Steve Hocking.

Sam Edmund's piece the other day suggesting Charlie would be happy to take a "pay cut" to play at Geelong made me laugh. These clown in the media don't think some of their players (or wives, partners & fiances) getting financially supplemented in other ways??

The AFL treat Geelong different to every other club in the league and i can reference many reasons why at another time. I don't mean to sound all conspiracy nutty but urge people to look at Geelong closely and don't fall for the incestual media lovefest in them from the likjes of Whateley, Mitch Cleary, Anthony Hudson, Dwayne Russell, David King, Tim Watson, Kane Cornes etc etc).

Hell, look at this week for example...coach & star player abuse and threaten two females to the brink of a breakdown...any suggestion of a sanction from the AFL or damning media? God no...they've got GWS private mad-monday costumes to worry about)
I’m surprised Dillon didn’t personally drive up there to see if Smith is ok.
It’s a farce that the AFL think supporters don’t see it.
Problem is, other AFL clubs aren’t doing anything about it!!

No where was an uno response made. Kept it 100% relevant to Carlton and moreso making a comparison to one of the best small forwards Carlton has ever had. Based on data to date why would a club delist a player with a similar form line? Your position is slipping.

What on earth are you on about?

You tried to suggest I was claiming Petruccelle is elite - that's quite literally the opposite of what I said :drunk:

You say: Motlop's tracking the same as Betts at the same stage.
I'm saying: Motlop is also tracking the same as Petruccelle and Sexton at the same age, so why are you assuming he's gonna be a Betts and not a Petch or Sexton?

That's what I'm really fascinated to see your view on. "Relevant to Carlton" doesn't enter into it - you can't just pluck a club legend who started slow out your bum and apply the logic that all subsequent players who start slow will also become club legends too.

Or to put it another way - if someone had reviewed Sexton or Petruccelle's formline at 21yo and claimed that because it was similar to Betts at the same stage, that they would follow a similar trajectory to Eddie, what do you think they'd be saying about them now? And what evidence is there to support Motlop turning into Betts and not one of the others?

Trac is a true professional and a real competitor. He doesn't care about surfing, he wants big games and to win.

Wouldn't be surprised if Trac moves from Melbourne. I haven't watched him enough this season but some have suggested he's playing well within himself since his big injury in 2024.

Unfortunately for Binns his kicking ability is poor by AFL standards.
He can find the footy and has a great tank just cannot kick well enough and we have far too many on our list that just cant kick well enough.
Chesser has an elite kick and speed, we will just need to maintain his fitness to handle AFL Much higher upside in Chesser and he is a free hit so to say
Chesser gives me Cunners vibes. Love his skill and pace, please injury Gods, be kind to us for once

I think they mean. What if we force CC to stay and he has an ordinary 2026 like Petracca did this year after Melbourne forced him to stay last year.
Petracca was second in the Dees Best & Fairest this season. He didn't have a poor season at all. Admittedly not as good as pre injury but that is to be expected after missing half of the the season last year and some trauma from his injury. I expect him to be tearing it up next year.

Oh, of we force Charlie to stay when he'd rather leave and he comes 2nd in the John Nichols medal next year I will be absolutely fine with that.

Strong source re: Charlie

Purely in his court and up to his Management to do a deal. It is genuinally a 50/50 bet as to what will happen.

He wants out. Many reasons

Carlton will just sit back and wait for offers and if it suits we will do it. If not, he stays. It's that simple

Wright wants a group of 22-28 year olds that can improve our depth and competition for spots. Good handy players. Draft will be Dean, Ison unless we get a Top 3 pick. SOS bidding on Dean is BS

Happy to move on any "fringe" players we can. Names like McGovern, Motlop offered basic deals with incentives to see if serious. No more over paying without performance. So many balls in the air and we are speaking with many many players. Many not mentioned on here. Looking for a KPD like Phillips or Blight but very possible SSP options

Believe we have great youth and with good cheap additions SC will be great for next few years to add "stars" if needed. Power a loss

Possible New Asst coaches involved in finals. Will be announced after season over. Want people from successful programs. I haven't heard anything re Hinkley at all. I doubt it will happen. Butters will stay at Port

There is a major shift happening across the entire football department and finals in 26 is still very much the belief with a good off season. Whatever happens it will be a very different Blues side in 2026

Told reports from Innes and comments from Haynes about some player standards/attitudes for AFL football were damning.

PS Wright identified 3 major issues in Football Department

1. Consistent Standards needed to be Great club
2. Lack of balance in coaching skills and success
3. List imbalance. Too much youth plus top end. Nothing in the middle

I'm in two minds re Charlie.
I've loved watching him as a player over the years, especially when flying, but also feel he's a little bit too conditional.
I don't particularly want to get rid of him, but if he genuinely wants out for multiple reasons, I also don't want a conditional player who isn't 100% committed. That's also not a reason to off load him for whatever we can get.

The part of Soapy’s post that says “SOS bidding on Dean is BS” should really be stickied at this point.

You know it will be a Bluemour that SOS will bid on Dean several more times in this thread in the next week alone.
Only because the campaigner won’t have a pick to make the bid with
